Urgent change in solar storm forecast.

The government has changed this weekend solar storm from G2 to severe G4.

I don’t believe it but the Northern Lights could be seen as far south as Alabama.

If this happens people will be screaming “ green Martians “ have landed call out the National Guard.

The sun spot is 15 earths wide and has some crazy magnetic forces going on and getting stronger.

Am peed off! I knew nothing about the lights being visible last night. Took the dog out and the clouds were all swirly and there was lots going on up in the sky (we've no light pollution here). This morning my son sent me some fabulous pictures he and his fiancee took last night out and about and it seems that I 'saw' the lights without seeing them. There was no colour at all, just wisps. Apparently I have to try with my phone set on 3 sec exposure to actually get colour.

I am out there tonight if it kills me.... I've always wanted to see the Northern Lights!

Some photos of the recent aurora borealis lights in the south west of England, from friends and relations

Caused by an intense geomagnetic storm (solar storm) which can also affect infrastructure

From https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1ej1kk0d88o

"...The extreme geomagnetic storm that happened on Friday was classed as the highest G5.

Storms of this scale could potentially impact infrastructure, including satellites and the power grid, the NOAA warned.

The last big G5 storm caused a power outage in Sweden, but there have been no reports of disruption so far. "The energy industry plans for a range of events far and wide - including into space,” Ross Easton, a spokesperson for Energy Networks Association said, adding that space forecasts were being monitored carefully over the weekend...."

From here (Durham) the central rosette took on the shape of a bird or angel. It was really dramatic. I think this feature was centred over the North East region? Apologies for the neighbour’s soil pipe intruding into the shot!
