Do you mean that they arise from the same undifferentiated spirtual mass as individual entities, or that each is a completely independent entity in and of itself unconnected to any other?

Beats the heck out of me. Given the nature of the evidence, either or both could be true; or my conviction that "it's all the same phenomenon" could be me lumping different things together for aesthetic reasons.

Even if it's all "the same phenomenon" and manifests in ways goverened by our perceptions, if we ever break through to perceiving the source of the phenomenon, we might find that the source can be broken down into meaningful categories, just as "animal life" breaks down into unicellular/insect/fish/etc.

Or we might find that we project the phenomena outwards as an accidental byproduct of consciousness.

Or we might find that the phenomena are God, extruding a spiritual pseudopod.

The one thing I'm certain of is, that the more we find out, the more questions we'll discover. That's how you tell legitimate cosmic mysteries from manufactured ones. Manufactured ones dead-end into something comprehensible. Legitimate ones produce endless new pathways. Don't you love it?

Hello,

I don't know about the original poster, but by shazam, I did mean CAPTAIN MARVEL! Billy Batson! The one and only...
Also, interesting note to add to this whole possibility that these entities manifest as our ideals, here is what my uncle told me when I told him that I posted his story. First he was pissed, until I told him I didn't use his or my real name. That's the beauty of the web. Anyhow...
My uncle V related his experience to a friend he made in Hawaii, while living there with his new wife and the friend told him a story about his father who went to sit on the beach to watch the sunset (this was sometime around the early 60's) and was struck by an odd feeling that he was being watched. He turned to look over his shoulder and noticed a woman standing there. It was hard to see the color of her complexion or to even make out her features since the sky was getting dark but she did have long hair that blew in the wind, and get this, a tail that was wagging behind her. He didn't think nothing of her until he noticed the tail. He rose to his feet and asked her who she was and she came closer until she was no more than a few feet in front of him. She opened her mouth to speak and made a kind of squeaky sound and then closed her mouth as if she was going to say something but thought better of it.
She raised an arm into the air and made a fist and then, right in front of him, she rose from the ground and took off, into the air. He felt a wave of nausea overcome him, he puked and then stumbled home.
A decade or two later while his son (my uncle's friend) was watching a program that featured some generic superheroes (there is no specifics here), his father told him the story.
My uncle called my other uncle K that night and told him the story and personally, what I am seeing here is a widespread phenomena in which people don't say anything about their experiences because who is going to believe a story like that?
Also, it is interesting to note that my uncles friend said his father was clueless about popculture, and Superhero and their ilk, and that he never had an explanation for what he saw until he saw that show.
Also, if I were to mention these stories outloud while there are guests at my grandmothers house, everyone would go silent and then change the subject ONLY if my Uncle V is there, but if he's not there, oh PA-LEASE, my family will talk about anything-about the ghosts-you name it, you will get an earful and I've had many a friend over on Thanksgiving who's heard these stories and walked away in awe.

Hmmm...

WW

P.S.,

Some interesting notes:

a) the nausea
b) the Superhero-like appearance
c) the unintelligible speech

How come it is that they can make themselves visible but they can't speak???
I watch the cartoon THE JUSTICE LEAGUE and I don't know if any of you have seen it, but maybe someone saw the episode where DARKSEID travelled to Gotham via a sort of portal. Maybe they travel this way from an alternate DC-like universe where heroes like that exist, but maybe they need help or something. Or maybe I am making too much out of it. But still, the possiblities are endless.

A thought just struck me...if these beings exist, perhaps their external appearance is determined by the observer....I mean, if someone believed in guardian angels, they would perceive these beings as such. Someone reared on cartoon heroes would see the same being *dressed* as a superhero.
Maybe, but keep in mind:
...my mother (who was about four at the time), got up to use the bathroom and was confronted by a woman she could only begin to describe sometime later while watching the show-WONDER WOMAN!

...my grandfather had an experience with something in the basement that he never told anyone. My uncle just remembers my grandfather running up the cellar stairs, his face pale, he vomited on the carpet, but he never said what happened.

I was away at college...my second year, but prior to leaving, my sick grandfather told me that I would be alright because he had friends watching over me.

When we rounded the corner I ran head first into a large man who smelled oddly of an old cellar mixed with water (that is the best I can describe it).
Could these three things be connected. Your grandfather saw something in the cellar. Your grandfather had "friends" watching over you. You ran into someone who protected you who smelt to you like a cellar.

Bannik,

Holy Sh*t, all this time I never put two and two together. You've actually freaked me out with your observation!!!
But, ok...did they just settle in the basement or something? Because both of my uncles saw them in areas OTHER than the basement, but now that I think of it, the hallway that my Uncle V observed the entity in, is where the closet door is.
It's amazing what other minds can see, that is why I appreciate other opinions on this.
Thank you because I am going to relay this info to my uncle to see what he has to say.

Dear Jeff,

This story certainly has been causing a great stir here in the city of Monterrey, N.L. Mexico and I would like you to know the facts involving a police officer , a flying humanoid entity and a mobilization of police forces in a bizarre, unprecedent incident. - Santiago.

It was very early in the morning 3:15 AM on Friday January 16, 2004 when police officer Leonardo Samaniego from Guadalupe, N.L. Mexico was doing his daily vigilance routine in his patrol car around Colonia Valles de la Silla not knowing the shocking experience that he was about to live, a true drama that he will never forget.

The night was cold and dark and the streets were empty when Samaniego made a turn onto Alamo street and immediately noticed something very unusual.

A huge, black object fell from a tree beside the street but it stopped just before touching the ground...and then slowly landed and turned itself to face the patrol car. At that moment, officer Samaniego knew that something was wrong. So he turned on the high beams of his car to try to see what was this black object that fell from the tree was.

That's when Samaniego's nightmare began.

"It was a woman...all dressed in black that fell from the tree but she didn't touch the ground, just remained floating several feet from the ground, declared officer Leonardo Samaniego. I saw her very well and then she landed softly on the ground and stood there looking at me. She was trying to cover her face from the lights of the car, I think they were bothering her. I could see two big black eyes on her, completely black without eyelids, and her skin was dark brown. She was all dressed in black with cloak and cape like a witch and she seemed very upset by the lights."

In a matter of seconds, the scene turned into a terrific sequence of events almost like a horror movie...but all too real. The being jumped very fast over to - and onto - Samaniego's patrol car trying to get at him while the shocked police officer tried to runaway in reverse while shouting desperately for back-up assistance on his radio.

Stunned Officer's Eyewitness Description

Here is officer Samaniego's testimonial of these terrifying seconds that for him must have seemed like a never-ending nightmare.

"As soon as I realized it was a kind of woman being, or a witch, very strange standing there trying to cover her face, she threw herself against my car very fast, falling on the car and hitting the windshield. She was flying very fast and it took only a second to hit the windshield glass. I was so shocked by this action that I put the car in reverse and pushed the accelerator trying to get away while requesting backup assistance by radio."

According to officer Samaniego's statement, the female being was trying to grab him with her hands right through the car's windshield. She was separated from the officer by only the few centimeters of the car's windshield. It was at this moment that officer Samaniego got his best visual look at the being he described as a "witch".

"It was a woman with big black eyes, everything was black, no eyelids. Her skin was dark brown and her expression was horrible. She was furiously trying to get me with her claws while I was running away in reverse calling desperately for backup assistance to any units around. When I finally hit the end of the street, I was so shocked that I covered my eyes and then I fainted."

Officer Leonardo Samaniego lost consciousness after he covered his eyes trying not to see the frightening being still glued to the windshield trying to get to him. The severe amount of high stress experienced by him caused him to pass out.

Some minutes later, two police units arrived as well as an ambulance that was nearby. When they got to the patrol car they found officer Samaniego unconscious. Fortunately, he was not injured, perhaps due to the fact that he never abandoned the car during the incident. That decision may have prevented a tragedy.

After several minutes, he regained consciousness and was attended by the paramedics on the ambulance. A tv camera crew that arrived with a police unit recorded officer Samaniego's first interview just minutes after he felt calmed enough - during the interrogation by his police colleagues. All this occurred at the same place of the bizarre incident. Officer Samaniego stood firmly on his account, insisting that the being was a witch that could fly and attacked him and his patrol car.

Note - One look at the young officer's stunned and shocked facial expression speaks volumes. -ed

An extensive search was done around the area by the police units trying to find any tracks or evidence of the mysterious female being but nothing was found. The ambulance took officer Samaniego to the Hospital Universitario for a medical evaluation and he remained there all day.

Drug Tests And Psychological Tests All Negative

The Secretary of Public Security of Guadalupe, Mr. Hamlet Castilla Garcia, informed that several drug tests as well as other examinations were conducted on officer Leonardo Samaniego to check for any toxic substances in his body like alcohol or any kind of drug. All tests were negative.

Also, Dr. Edelmiro Perez Rodriguez who is coordinator of medical services in Hospital Universitario informed that after several psychiatric and psychological examinations they found officer Leonardo Samaniego mentally and physically healthy.

Guadalupe mayor, Mr. Juan Francisco Rivera, declared the next day that Samaniego is a fine police officer in the department and there is no reason whatever to think that he would have invented such a story. But he added that maybe it was an excess of work or too much stress that made him believe what he saw, not necessarily what really happened. He said that life sometimes puts people in weird situations that we can't explain.

Needless to say that the story broke in the television headlines the next day and a the people of the community awoke to a great controversy. Local tv channels 2 and 34 took the story very seriously and decided to cover all the incidents and follow the case in a huge display of information through all of their newscasts for the next days. The people's response was great and literally hundreds of reports and testimonials of similar things sighted arrived at the tv station. Several witnesses were interviewed saying that they saw the mysterious black being flying over their homes.

Other Officers Saw The Same Being 3 Days Earlier

A police officer from Santa Catarina, N.L., Mr. Jorge Contreras, declared that he and two more policemen from the Regia Police saw EXACTLY the same flying being that officer Samaniego saw, but three days before. They saw it flying and decided not to say anything - until they heard about this case.

Norma Alicia Herrera who lives in Colonia La Playa declared in a tv interview that she and her brother saw also the being flying at daytime and that it looked weird. She said that her brother was so stunned by the sighting that he was sick for almost a week afterwards.

A neighbor in that sector also videotaped, several days before, a strange flying humanoid being and gave the video to the tv station. The footage was released the same day during the newscast of channel 34 and later on channel 2 causing even more commotion among the people.

The story was also released by major newspapers like El Norte and Milenio. The same Friday, January 16, special surveillance units were stationed where the incident took place and streets surrounding as an operative to protect the neighbors in case an eventual new attack. At the same time, an investigation was initiated by the Public Security Corporation in Guadalupe. Police officer Leonardo Samaniego remained in seclusion receiving his treatment for the next two days when he was interviewed again on tv, maintaining his story in every detail.

Further Research

According to the being's description and characteristics as given by Samaniego - especially those of the eyes - I looked in my archives for any similar cases trying to sustain the theory of the humanoid encounter. I found the classic case from Flatwoods, West Virginia in 1952. The drawings are very similar to what officer Samaniego declared attacked him. Of course, the Mothman story came to mind, also from West Virginia but in 1966 - a still unsolved case of a strange humanoid. These are famous cases that remain an enigma.

Reviewing the footage taken by a witness of the strange flying entity, I found the shape of this being or object very unusual in terms of any ufological analogy but not so in my dossier of evidences of cases in which I have found similar reports of humanoid shaped entities or beings. Here in Mexico, we have been witness to several cases of extremely rare humanoid-shaped flying things, objects, entities, beings or whatever the definition may be. We simply don't have any idea what these strange figures are that resemble a human flying in the sky without parachute or any propulsion device, defying all known laws of physics.

These kinds of things have been witnessed and taped more than a few times here in Mexico and we still don't have any clue of what this next level phenomena may represent. The case of officer Samaniego is now another challenge to confront and most probably will remain inconclusive and unexplained.

But we have witnesses, evidence and testimonials that something very real and weird is happening in the sky, and now among us, maybe a frightening menace or just an encounter with the unknown. In any case, Friday January 16, 2004 will remain seared in officer Leonardo Samaniego's memory as the night that he confronted the horror of encountering the unknown.

Regarding Ebls

Oops, I meant EBBLS. Okay. Anyone remember this post in the IHTM section? It was about the person who saw Superbeings or whatever? Ok, well I was reading the latest JLA issue on my break and one of the temps and I got to talking about Superheros and whether or not we thought they were real, or whatever, and he told me about how his uncle saw Superman in Guatemala!

I told him about my families history with similar beings like the EBBLS story and he began to pour out a stream of stories. So here they are. Only three and not verbatim.

1) His Uncle saw Superman in Guatemala.

One day, mid afternoon, his Uncle Javier was walking home from work. He was a construction worker...or helping someone build a house(?). He was about 28 and the year was 1972.
He used to walk on the rocks over a beach because at the end of the rock cliff was a dense patch of trees that belonged to a walkway right up to his parents house. So he was on this rocky cliff and right in his line of sight someone swooped down in front of him to the beach below!
He fell back and blessed himself because he thought it was the devil.
After a few minutes he gathered the courage to look over the edge to see if the thing was still there and it swooped up before him and hung in the air.
He said it was a man wearing a unitard, with a cape and boots. He had close cropped hair and appeared tan, but since the sun was going down, it was hard to tell. He believed the man was caucasian. There was an insignia on his chest that resembled an eight or the symbol for infinity. The man floated there looking at him and then punched one arm in the air and flew up and up until he was a dot and then gone! His uncle later said the man looked like SUPERMAN!

2) When his grandmother went to New York to see some family, she got ditched at the Port Authority (not sure about the circumstances), and walked from Times Square to Greenwich at around 10pm-midnight (?). She took a shortcut through an alleyway and when she got to the other end she heard rustling in the trash. She turned to see a humanoid leap from one fire escape, across the alley, to the other. Some twenty feet or so!
This is all he told me about this one.

and finally:

3) He and his brother were reading old X-men comics on the roof of their apartment building one night, a few years ago and his cousin saw a glowing orb in the sky, to the east. They thought it was a UFO and they screamed to the people on the street below to check it out, but as it got closer, they noticed that the glowing orb was an orange-yellow bubble with a man inside, walking! He said as the man walked the bubble rotated and it just floated in the sky. He said the man had a beaklike face and huge oval eyes and may have been wearing a red one piece suit. They were both so scared they ran downstairs and relayed the siting to his mother.
He also said there was an insignia on the side of the bubble that looked almost like a swastika!

That's all I got. Pretty trippy huh?

Sounds to me like Keel's Cosmic Jokers were really having a ball . . . seriously though, the last story especially sounds like something that could have been in Keel's Mothman Prophesies . . .

They are all truly strange stories.

What did he seem to make of them?

-Fitz

Hello Fitz,

His take was kinda far out! He believes that the devil is gaining power...a lot of power to decieve. He's very religious. He thinks Aliens are demons, etc. So, that's all he said really.

My take is that there are all kinds of beings around. Some of us can see them, some of us can't, but that doesn't mean they aren't there.

WW

WonderWoman,

I hold the same opinion you do . . . recently I got into a (minor, thankfully) car crash, and was extremely shaken by it afterward for about an hour. I am almost 30, and yet had never been in a crash before.

Anyway, I found for that hour or so afterwards I had a sensation of what I can only describe as 'waking up' - as if I had been asleep for my entire life until then. It was very creepy. I remember continually looking around into tree tops around me, and into the empty sky, because I suddenly felt so naked. I'm not sure if those two feelings were connected.

Anyway, my point is that maybe on a day-to-day basis most of us ARE effectively asleep. Being used to the same routine we fall into habit, and then into routine, and after that its fortunate we notice anything at all.

Maybe some people aren't as natural at putting up mental blinders.

-Fitz

Hello Fitz,

I know exactly what type of feeling you mean. I felt that way as a kid. And sometimes I still do. I don't walk around my house naked when I am alone because I always feel their are invisible people watching me! I don't do alot of things, like steal or make faces behind someones back because of the unerring feeling that someone'll see me. Call it paranoia, but I am very much aware that there are eyes everywhere. Occasionally while I am sleeping I still get that sensation and I always have to uncover my face and look around my room.
There are times, spans of years when I find myself asleep. I don't feel as open or able to see like I know I can. In those times I experience sleep paralysis and a lot of stress.
I really believe that there is a state of being in which a person can become suddenly aware of the real world. Sometimes it's cool and sometimes it's scary.
No I take that back...MOST OF THE TIME IT's SCARY!

Couldn't agree more. I can remember a couple of mental conversations I had with myself as a kid of five or six wherin I was deliberately figuring out ways to permanently block scary, inexplicable, 'don't worry it's only your imagination' type stuff from getting through. I'd reasoned out that the scary experiences were scarier (and more frequent) than the cool, nonthreatening experiences were cool and non-threatening, so I blocked it all. For the most part it's been successful, and I'm a little ashamed to admit that thirty years later, I'm still okay with my childhood decision. Maybe I'll be ready for full frontal forteana in another decade or two!

EDIT: love the superhero sightings WonderWoman!

WW-where do you/your grandmother live? (NOT EXACTLY!) Just curious.

If such creatures exist we like to think that their reality is different than what we percieve them as...why do we do that?

Can't the appearance of these things be their genuine appearance? It can be problematice to make *certain* things out into subjective experiences.

Superman spotted in Serbia

Serbian authorities are investigating reports of a real-life Superman after people claimed to have seen a cloaked figure flying over their houses.

Hundreds of residents in Ljubovija described seeing a cloaked person flying above buildings "as if he had an invisible engine on his back" and changing directions while in mid-air, local daily Blic reported.

One local said: "It was like something out of Superman or Batman. No one has any rational explanation for what we all saw."

Police in the town have refused to comment.
