Well, my day got off to a lousy start. From about 0400 I started hearing regular beeps, but I couldn't seem to track down the noise. They were coming about every minute, and could be heard all through the flat, but not in the corridor outside. After about half an hour I realised it was my smoke alarm - a little red light on it flashed with every beep.
I already knew there was no fire, so I pressed the test button to alert the lifeline service. Long story short, they can't get anyone out until about 0730, so here I am on the computer, killing time...
Next time I'll start a fire to get a quicker response!
