Yeah, 007 in the last film was a female agent.
For a short time in the story yes. Then she formally requested Bond be given his 007 title back. Then apparently he got blown up on that island. Flip knows how they're going to bring a James Bond back?. Obviously with a new actor (again) if they chose to.

As long as Paloma comes back in the next one...............

Just reboot it. The Daniel Craig films were reboots, so it made sense to give him an end.
I know there's been as many actors playing Bond at about the same tempo as we've had different prime ministers. I'm just wondering if they're planning on permanently killing the Bond character off. I hope not.

As No Time to Die has made $774 000 000 in cinema sales alone I think we can assume he's coming back.

Apparently that ranks as a loss due to production costs and advertising, It only had 31 days exclusive in the cinema before it became available on streaming. Streaming and video sales have been healthy.

No Time To Die was pants though. It's probably that film that's killed Bond instead.

Rumors only but the next Bond movie will be 2025 with a possibility of Aaron-Taylor Johnson, a person I have never heard of.

But there are many actors and actresses who public have said they want the part, such as Henry Cavill and Lashanda Lynch.

Henry Cavill does seem to be a perfect fit for the part.

Last couple of Roger Moore so Octopussy and A View to a Kill, with a dishonorable mention to Quantum of Solace for the direction.
I had a feeling it was going to be Octopussy and I have to agree. I liked the Eifel Tower scenes at the start of 'View' but I could have done without the Grace Jones in the Temple of Doom ending. I can't honestly remember what Quantum of Solace was about. I loved the Casino Royale remake though.

Just watched Casino last week, will rewatch Solace this week. The majn issue is rapid cutd, no single camera shot lasts more than a couple of seconds, or so it seems! Motion sickness inducing and jerks you out of what is happening on screen.

British actress, Olivia Coleman, is campaigning to become the next M.

While I like Coleman - and found her a great comedian in past work - there is a casting 'error' in that actors get cast not because they'd be good for the part but because they are the 'latest big thing'.

But she’d be good for the part and she’s been the latest big thing for a while now. And she’s a good actor.* Wasn’t she in some Marvel nonsense lately?

*As long she doesn’t go mumsily overboard in the role.

She was in Secret Wars where she did play an M-like role.

Fiennes has only been in three.
Surely time for a couple more at least.

Tilda Swinton would be good too.
But Samuel West has been brilliant in everything I’ve seen him in

The whole point of James Bond films is that we have some sort of James Bond swaggering around and being arrogant. If nobody wants that anymore, lets stop making them altogether IMO. They were never about realism anyway which was what made them fun.

I don’t have a clue about UK bookies, but the bookies report that a rising Scottish actor Jack Lowden is surprisingly the bookies favorite for James Bond.

It seems in the UK people bet on anything.

Well, actually, he’s not being arrogant. He’s a prime example of advanced early experience aligned with advanced training which has given him the means to deal with the very specific problems he is tasked to deal with. An idealised concept of a British gentleman super soldier. Quite the charming killer but keeping us all safe and risking his life to do it. So not arrogant but confident. It’s a definition we’d do well to keep in mind before we trash yet another ideal.

As an aside, whenever the question arises about who you'd cast as a favourite character or in a hypothetical role, I struggle. I don't watch TV or streaming services much, and no film has inspired me to take out a bank loan to go to the cinema. So I don't know which actors are out there who might be good in the part.
I've got a lot of VHS/DVDs and consider some actors on these ... then I realise how much older they are now and wouldn't be suitable.

Not a chance! He looks too young and non-muscular to be believable.
