Some or all of that may be true, but what we do know is that David Clarke tracked down Craig Lindsay and the photo Craig still had in his possession:

I would strongly suggest that you read David Clarke's version of events on his blog in addition to what Nick Pope has said on the matter
 
T'missus has the giant poster, framed, the same as the one made famous by The X-Files. :)
 
This past Ozark Mountain UFO conference, Nick Pope quoted Jacques Vallee who said if it turns out to be just aliens that would be disappointing because Jacques believes it is a multiple facet problem involving dimensions.
 
Just been watching something on catch up and Nick Pope was in it,
he doesn't look well, seems to have lost a lot of weight.
