Suggestions About Re-Organisation: Move & Merge Requests

Can our search function handle something like that?
Wouldn’t the simpler ‘Modern-Day Hermits’ be better?

I don't think it would be better--I think it would be more boring. If there's a SEARCH issue, I will look into it, but we have literally hundreds of threads with this format: Slightly Oblique Reference: Clarifying Complement.

Edit: Search for "Hermits" in the title brings it up as the first and only result.

I posted the above this morning and then get the message about additional posts... view them?
I clicked view them and it duplicated my post (the one above)

So I edited the last duplicate post to say 'auto duplicate post'. But it seems the original disappeared.

Oh I agree that it would be more boring but it would probably be more functional.

Slightly Oblique Reference: Clarifying Complement.

That programme I like: Game of Thrones.

It makes no difference to the forum's built-in search function, which is merely looking for word 'hits' anywhere in the title.

If anything, preserving an obliquely-referenced thread title helps in the sense it maintains the oblique reference in case someone remembers the thread under that title.

A general note / proposal ...

There are a number of threads dedicated to superstitions, these threads are strewn among multiple sub-forums, and there's considerable overlap among some of them.

I propose to inventory the superstition threads in preparation for migrating them into a single sub-forum.

I nominate Urban Legends & Folklore as the home for superstition threads, because superstitions are part of socially-disseminated 'lore' analogous to UL's and folk tales / remedies. I've primarily encountered academic discussions of superstitions within the context of folklore classes.

I further propose that the UL's & Folklore section be re-titled to indicate its newly expanded topical context - e.g.:

Lore: Folklore, Urban Legends, Superstitions, etc.

Agreed if and only if there is a sufficient number.

Edit: Not 100% sure of the need to rename the forum (for me Folklore includes superstitions), but we can cross that bridge if and when we come to it.

Fair enough ... Here's my summary list of threads dedicated to superstition(s), including one additional thread that doesn't label itself as such ...

We could have a subforum or whatever just for threads on superstitions.

I'm happy to create one, but at the moment we haven't gathered enough to populate one.

I'll take a look before long.

I'm sure they are out there, but we haven't got the links in one place for me to move them all to a new sub-forum.

If you can post 'bare links' (to the first page of the thread, not pages 2, 3, 4 etc.), I will start a new sub-forum as soon as we achieve a critical mass of, say, 40. Enola has already started the ball rolling above.
