Wonderful news. The European Union has given the green light for two more species of insect to be used as food for humans.
As of Tuesday, a powdered form of Acheta domesticus — better known as the house cricket — will be given the green light for human consumption within the European Union, documents from the body have confirmed.
This is soon to be followed by further approval for the sale and consumption of the larval form of Alphitobius diaperionus — also known as the lesser mealworm — which will be given the green light for human consumption in frozen, paste, dried and powder forms within the European Union later this week.

Wonderful news.
I can't wait.
I don't intend to, also. You can buy cricket flour in the health food section of of our local Woolworths supermarket. Haven't tried it, don't intend to.
Peruvian selling guinea pigs?
Reminds me of Demolition Man.
I often use fruit juice on my cereal as Lactose intolerant, its very nice on granola. Not so good on cornflakesJuice company Tropicana is introducing a breakfast cereal designed to be drenched with orange juice rather than milk.

My nephew ate one at a wedding in Ecuador, years ago. He wasn't right for a couple of years afterwards - it's possible that he'd acquired a parasite or infection from it. He got better after his wife (a nurse) made him change his diet. He's fine now.I've eaten guinea pig, and it looked a lot like that.
Sometimes, knowing that we can doesn't mean we should...I 'appen ter like my housebound crickets - and they happen to like my laundry and bathroom.
These cricket corn chips are now in our local Woolies:

I'd be taking that back for a refund. We have 'Shit The Bed' hot sauce here. It's great, aside from the bed shitting (which has not yet happened to me).
I'd be taking that back for a refund.
Time to up your game, my son. This brand also has a 16 out of 10 hot sauce that warns of anal leakage. Too hot for me.
What symptoms did he have? How did he change his diet? Did he see a doctor about the possibility of a parasite or infection? My nephew ate one at a wedding in Ecuador, years ago. Constant diarrhoea, tummy upsets. Like IBS, really. He lost a bit of weight. What symptoms did he have? How did he change his diet? Did he see a doctor about the possibility of a parasite or infection?
Do I have to go round there with a chair and a spotlight?
This sort of accident evokes a morbid interest in me; people on holiday try things they'd never even consider at home, and if they're unlucky it all goes wrong.
I keep telling people, anal leakage is not your friend....This brand also has a 16 out of 10 hot sauce that warns of anal leakage. Too hot for me.
Remember Olestra, the miracle fat substitute? It was supposed to make everyone slim by reducing the calories in their food.I keep telling people, anal leakage is not your friend....
That, and loose lips sink ships.....
Glad he's OK now.Constant diarrhoea, tummy upsets. Like IBS, really. He lost a bit of weight.
Doctors checked him out and gave him antiparasitic meds as a precaution, but they didn't find anything.
He changed to a completely bland diet.
He's the picture of health now.
