    The forums will be undergoing updates this weekend: Saturday 7th - Sunday 8th June 2025.
    Little to no downtime is expected.

General Website Queries: 2018 Onward

As a result, two threads in particular ran well beyond the bounds that the forum permits in the area of politics and culture/religious strife. The theads on Mass-Stabbings and (one which was derailled to discuss) Riots are now locked.

We've previously run 'commentary threads' here on periods of civil unrest without too much trouble, but this time the news updates and anecdotes have been drowned out by arguments over Islam, immigration, the far-right and racial politics, none of which we wish to host.

Ok. Simply sorted. The two threads have been deleted and similar comments will be dealt with appropriately.

Why has the thread titled Planespotting been locked? Thanks in advance.

I was travelling and we had complaints--again--about the last post there, the one on immigration that references 'illegals'.

Might unlock in a while.
I sort of guessed that might be the reason. Thanks again for the reply.

Is the Suspiciously Common Russian ‘Falling’ Deaths thread going to be reopened? If so here’s another example.

I've moved your news story to that thread.

That thread was locked because posters literally ignored repeated requests to a) post only 'falling deaths' and not other suspicious deaths in Russia, and b) refrain from off-topic digressions on Putin's character and the war in Ukraine.

Digressions are completely fine, but when we're pages away from the last on-topic post, members are going to have to listen to us while we try to maintain fences.

I'll let @gordonrutter decide whether to reopen it.

As we have a new case and it's been closed a long time, let's give it a go. It is now open again for suspicious falling deaths.

Sorry—this is an error.

That update has been installed, but we forgot to turn off the neon sign.

Will get rid of it soon.

Edit: should now be gone.

Not a complaint, just a question;

When writing a post, sometimes I come out for various reasons - to check spelling, check any quotes, or get distracted in any number of ways.

Going back into the (unsent at this point) post, it has often moved to the previous page.

No big deal (once you know this), but sometimes parts of it are missing and on some occasions it has vanished completely and I have to start again.

I believe I've had this happen a couple of times myself Floyd when coming out for either writing/or, for adding something I'd missed on a computer sketch, however as you say no big deal thing. :)

A quick ask.

going in via "Your Content" on my profile to revisit old submissions (mainly to see if any new lines of thought get sparked) then I'm initially offered 20 pages of my own content and submissions. Skipping right to the end of that 20 pages, I am then offered "older content", which adds a further ten pages of entries. After that, even older submissions seem to vanish into the ether.

I suspect it's the case that for every new entry I make today, one very old entry drops off at the other end. Is this correct? And is there any way of going back still further to retrieve and revisit those very oldest Forum submissions?

(This is just curiosity, basically).

I've been able to go back to my very first posts. Under your profile, click on "postings" scroll down to the bottom and click "older", and you get 1-20 at the bottom. Click on 20 and scroll to the bottom again, and click older posts again to get the previous 20 pages of posts... and repeat back to the beginning.

I don't know if anyone cares, but this is still up;

It may be in your dimension but it's not showing here.

Perhaps your cache needs clearing?

It definitely seems to have gone in my dimension. Haven't seen it the last few times I've logged in. You know what? I kinda miss it.
That's odd then.

I've been up all night wondering whether it will still be there - and it is!
The excitement is unbearable.

Now this is better than tv!
