Man pleads guilty to cutting off "patient's" genitals

COLUMBIA, Mo. - A former church minister and Boy Scout leader who cut off another man's genitals in a makeshift gender reassignment surgery in a hotel room, pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree assault and practicing medicine without a license.

Jack Wayne Rogers, 59, of Fulton, Mo., admitted he performed the grisly operation about two years ago.

Circuit Judge Gary Oxenhandler followed the recommendation of prosecutors, sentencing Rogers to 17 years in prison for assault and seven years for the illegal surgery.

The prison time is to run concurrently with a 30-year sentence handed to Rogers in April after he pleaded guilty to child pornography and obscenity charges.

Rogers promised Michael Abercrombie he'd remove his genitals in a four-hour operation. That time passed, complications developed and bleeding refused to stop.

Abercrombie, now known as Madison, says she didn't feel like a victim at first, but changed her mind after prosecutors presented her Rogers' checkered criminal history, peppered with allegations of cannibalism and a pornography collection that included photographs of severed genitals.

"I didn't know his motivation when I went into it," she said. "I was under a lot of emotional stress, and it seemed like there was no alternative."

Abercrombie, a nursing student, must undergo additional surgeries to complete her gender reassignment.

Valerie Leftwich, Rogers' public defender, said she advised her client to plead guilty to avoid further prison time.

"He is getting concurrent time," she said. "If he had gone to trial, he very well could have gotten consecutive time."

Rogers was sent to prison for four months in 1992 on federal child pornography charges. He is still being investigated in the torture and killing of a Skidmore man.

Branson Kayne Perry, 20, disappeared in April 2001. A police search of Rogers' property turned up a necklace belonging to the man.

Rogers has denied killing Perry and has not been charged.

Maasai man in Kenya reveals all

A Maasai man in Kenya has had his penis bitten off by his angry wife, who suspected him of adultery.

Saloon Ole Mewet from Ngong in southern Kenya said his spouse attacked him in his sleep. "She bit me and removed all of it," he told the BBC's Muchiri Kioi.

His shouts raised the alarm and he was taken to a local hospital by his neighbours where he received stitches.

It is an unusual admission, as Maasai men, who often beat their wives, do not like to lose face before their community.

"If you do not beat your wife it's taken that you're a hen-pecked husband, which is not allowed in our community," Maasai elder Johnson Ole Sipitiek told the BBC's Network Africa programme.

But Mr Mewet, who has reported the incident to the police, said he was so overcome with pain that he could not help but make a noise.

His wife, who is a Kikuyu, is now in hiding.

Unprecedented

On the evening of the assault, Mr Mewet returned home at 2200 and was beaten up by his wife just after he drifted off to sleep.

After hitting her husband and knocking out his front teeth, Mrs Mewet bit off his testicles and despite his struggles when he awoke, chewed off his penis.

"I don't have a penis now," he explained, showing the BBC's reporter his wound.

Mr Mewet admitted he did have a girlfriend, but said he was at a loss to understand his wife's actions as she was aware that he had other girlfriends when they got married.

"She knew that I had many girlfriends, and I don't know why she complained when I got another girlfriend," he said.

According to Mr Mewet, castration is unprecedented in Maasai culture, as there is no traditional punishment.

"If you kill somebody you must pay 49 cows, even if you've removed somebody's tooth - it's one sheep. But this has never happened to a Maasai," he said.

Mr Mewet said he was left with no option but to pursue an action against his wife through the courts.

Mr Mewet's father said they planned to slaughter a sheep in the homestead in order to remove any dangers of a curse.

Porn, obscenity gets Rogers 30 years

JEFFERSON CITY - Moments before a judge sentenced him to 30 years in prison without parole, federal inmate Jack Wayne Rogers said, "It's never been my intent to hurt anyone."

Rogers, 58, of Fulton, was sentenced Wednesday in the Western District Court in Jefferson City by U.S. District Judge Scott O. Wright, on an 11-count superseding indictment for child pornography and obscenity charges.

That indictment - returned by a federal grand jury in Jefferson City - includes two counts of possession of child pornography, five counts of distribution of child pornography, three counts of distribution of obscene materials, and a federal forfeiture count.

This is Rogers' second conviction on federal child pornography charges. In 1992, he received a four-month prison term and a three-year supervised release, which he served.

Rogers also faces charges in Boone County for first-degree assault and practicing medicine without a license. A September court date has been set for those proceedings.

After numerous witness appearances, Wright asked Rogers if he had anything to say. Rogers stood before the court and said, "I know in pornography there are victims. It's something I do."

Before sitting down, he added: "I have no desire in ever harming anyone else."

To assure Rogers' testimony, Wright placed several conditions on his sentence, which include mental health and sex offender counseling, cooperation in DNA testing, no access to or possession of a computer without prior approval from the probation and parole office, and required registration as a sex offender in any state where he resides.

Rogers' attorney, Valerie Leftwich of Columbia, disputed the sentence, stating that it was five times higher than the federal sentencing guidelines - which provide a sentencing range of 57 to 71 months.

Several times throughout Wednesday's proceedings, Leftwich objected to the prosecution's evidence, stating that it was "irrelevant to the charges her client previously pleaded to."

Leftwich argued that because the prosecution "didn't like Rogers, ... his sexual practices or the things he said on the computer," the court granted the upward departure - which allowed for increased sentencing.

"We don't punish people for what they think or their sexual practices in this country," Leftwich said. "It's a violation of his due process rights."

Leftwich said Rogers plans to appeal.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Lawrence E. Miller disagreed with Leftwich, stating that the motion was filed because the guidelines do not adequately reflect the extreme circumstances of the case, or the danger Rogers poses.

"He has no business being free. He is a danger to society," Assistant U.S. Attorney Lawrence R. Miller told the court.

The prosecution used images taken from Rogers' home and business computers, as well as two state witnesses and evidence from both federal and state investigations to make its case.

Miller cited the large amount of child pornography as one reason for seeking the upward departure.

"Investigators found more than 1,000 images of child pornography at Rogers' home, and even more at his business office. The sheer volume of child porn, and the nature of the obscene material, justify a lengthy prison term," Miller said.

Among the obscene material was evidence that Rogers performed nullification - the removal of other males' sexual organs - and cannibalism.

Madison Abercrombie, of Neosho, - a victim of Rogers' nullification ritual - testified that she had sought his services for the removal of her male genitalia.

Abercrombie, who now is awaiting a female gender assignment, testified that she paid Rogers - who is not a licensed health-care provider - 0 for his services.

Photographs seized from Rogers' home and office show that he not only performed the nullifications, but also that he photographed the procedures.

Michael Martin of Columbia testified that he was aware of Rogers' nullification practices and that he knew of at least five times that Rogers performed the procedure.

Martin said that he was present for three of the five procedures, but he had not witnessed Rogers ingest any organs, though Rogers told him that he had "physically consumed organs" before.

Miller also entered into evidence other photographs that included images of child pornography, and a five-page chat log that included a discussion by Rogers pertaining to the torture and mutilation of children.

Testimonies also were heard from the urologists who attended to Abercrombie after Rogers' procedure, and also from investigators who worked the federal investigation and one who is still actively working the state's case.

"We are pleased the court agreed that Jack Rogers deserved a prison sentence above the guidelines. Child pornography and obscenity are bad enough, but the circumstances of this case are gruesome and revolting in the extreme," U.S. Attorney Todd Graves said in a release.

Lead investigator Sgt. David Merrill of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, who is handling the state's case, echoed Graves' sentiments.

"Obviously, we're very pleased with the outcome and feel the sentence was justifiably placed on Mr. Rogers," Merrill said outside of the courtroom. Merrill said his office is moving forward with its investigation of Rogers' criminal activities, which include his alleged connection in the 2001 disappearance and possible murder of Skidmore resident Branson Kayne Perry.

I saw something on TV about this a while ago and they used an implement vets use to castrate rams - its enough to make the eyes water (just thinking about it).
 
Greed for dowry drives man to chop off boy's penis

India News > Agra, Oct 8 : Apparently frustrated over non-fulfilment of his demand for more dowry, a man chopped off the penis of his wife's seven-year-old brother in a village here, police said today.

The boy, Shayamu, was admitted to hospital in a serious condition, they said adding the gruesome incident took place in Nagla area yesterday.

Shashi, brother-in-law of Shayamu, lured the boy out of the house on the pretext of taking him to the market, police said adding instead he took him to a place where he sliced the boy's penis.

The boy reached home bleeding profusely and told his family members about the incident.

Police said Shashi, who had married Parveen six months ago, oftern tortured her for not bringing adequate dowry.

Parveen had left her husband and went to her father's house a few days ago.

Shashi went to her in-laws house to bring her back where he planned and committed the shocking crime, police said. PTI

Police Say Woman Stabbed Husband's Penis

PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (AP) -- A Cambodian woman stabbed her husband's penis with a knife during an argument in which she accused him of being a violent drunk, police said Monday.

Tuy Narin, 35, attacked 37-year-old Chhun Saran earlier this month in Kandal province near the capital Phnom Penh, said Mang Penh, a local police officer.

Tuy Narin called her husband a drunkard, prompting him to retaliate by throwing a sandal at her, Mang Penh said. Tuy Narin's mother and two sisters then wrestled the outnumbered husband to the floor and his angry wife stabbed him with a knife, the police officer said.

The victim, who appeared to have been drinking, required seven stitches at a local hospital but the injury was "not life-threatening," he added.

The assault happened on Oct. 9, according to Koh Santepheap (Island of Peace) newspaper.

Chhun Saran withdrew a complaint against his wife after relatives intervened and urged the couple to reconcile, Mang Penh said.

Woman Accused of Severing Man's Penis

HOUSTON (AP) - A woman accused of cutting off her boyfriend's penis with a kitchen knife while he was sleeping was being sought by police Saturday, sheriff's detectives said. The severed organ has not been found since the attack Thursday morning at the woman's home.

The 33-year-old victim is in Ben Taub General Hospital and is expected to survive. The 45-year-old woman told detectives she cut the man because he had been unfaithful and had physically abused her. Eighty percent of his penis was severed, detectives said.

The Harris County Sheriff's Department declined to release the couple's names Saturday because the woman has not been charged.

Detectives said the man was on probation for assaulting the woman last year and found a court order prohibiting him from going near her. He was not abusing her when the attack occurred, said sheriff's Lt. Ruben Diaz.

Despite the court order, the woman invited him to her home Thursday, Diaz said. The man works a night shift, and after he arrived, went to bed.

Later in the morning, the victim was awakened by a sharp pain. "He sees the bed full of blood, he immediately looks down and knows what's going on," Diaz said. "She's standing in the room. She's still there, staring at him."

The woman's sister and 22-year-old daughter heard the man's screams and drove him to a hospital. The woman with the knife refused to help them, Diaz said.

The woman later spoke with detectives after her daughter reached her on a cellular phone. She refused to return to the house, Diaz said.

The couple had lived together in the United States for about four years, but are not believed to be legally married, Diaz said. Detectives say she still is married to another man in her homeland of El Salvador. They said she may be headed there.

'Stand in line-up or get 3 yrs'

Nelspruit - A suspected gang leader who has refused to stand in a police line-up has been ordered to do so - or face a three-year jail sentence.

On Thursday, prosecutor Kobus van der Walt asked KaBokweni magistrate's court near White River, in Mpumalanga, to issue an order that Kholizwe Masina attend a police identity parade.

Van der Walt said: "His refusal to attend the identity parade has given the police a headache, and will only delay the trial."

In terms of the Criminal Procedure Act, if Masina fails to comply with the order, he faces a three-year jail sentence.

Hundreds of residents were crowded outside the court to oppose bail.

Masina, whose first name, Kholizwe, means "The Outcast", has been denied bail after threats on his life.

He's accused of five murders, one rape, and six armed robberies, all of which took place in the Pienaar area near Nelspruit between March and October.

No formal reports to police

Police have been unable to confirm rumours that he mutilated a man with a knife, forced patrons at a local tavern to strip naked and dance while he brandished the severed penis.

No one, not even the alleged victim, has ever formally reported the case to the police.

Man Gets Probation in Botched Castration

PITTSBURGH (AP) - A man who botched the castration of a transgendered woman will spend the next three years on probation. "I have no intention of doing this again to animals or humans," Douglas Lenhart, 49, told Allegheny County Judge John Zottola on Monday. "I'm completely out of this. Completely done."

Zottola sentenced Lenhart to jail time he had already served and will let him serve his probation in Kansas City, Kan., where he now lives.

In July, Lenhart acknowledged trying to castrate Catherine Watson, 46. Watson was born with nonfunctioning male genitals and has lived as a woman since age 9, Lenhart's defense attorney James Wymard said.

Lenhart pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and practicing medicine without a license.

Lenhart had said Watson was "desperate" to find someone to perform the surgery and he thought he could do it because of his experience castrating animals on a farm.

The next time a transgendered woman asks for a castration, Douglas Lenhart promises he will just say no.

"I have no intention of doing this again to animals or humans," Lenhart, 49, a former Westmoreland County businessman, told Allegheny County Judge John A. Zottola on Monday. "I'm completely out of this. Completely done."

Zottola sentenced Lenhart to three years of probation for a September 2003 botched castration procedure that put Catherine Watson, 46, of McKeesport, in the hospital for two days.

Lenhart, who now lives in Kansas City, Kan., pleaded guilty in July to aggravated assault and practicing medicine without a license.


Watson did not attend yesterday's hearing. According to Deputy District Attorney Janet Necessary, Watson did not want to see Lenhart go to prison.

Defense attorney James Wymard said Watson -- who was born with nonfunctioning male genitalia and has lived as a woman since she was 9 -- was "desperate" to find a doctor to perform the procedure.

"She told him she was going to do it herself in the parking lot of UPMC McKeesport," Wymard said.

Lenhart, a former Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, resident who at the time worked for a surgical supply company, said he had done castrations on thousands of animals after working on a farm and was confident he could handle the procedure after she "begged me to do it." But when Watson began bleeding, he took her to a hospital.

"He used very, very bad judgment," Wymard said.

Belgrade - A Serbian man was so depressed by his family's dire financial situation that he cut off his penis with an axe, only to regret it afterwards and ask for help, Serbian media said on Friday.

The 30-year-old from the industrial town of Kragujevac in central Serbia was distraught by what he described as "the poverty and misery" around him, daily Kurir reported.

"My wife is sick and I can't even buy medicine, my father, mother and I live from my father's paltry salary," the man was quoted as saying.

"I saw no other way out, grabbed a rusty axe, took my penis out, put it on a log and bam!"

The sight of blood brought him to his senses, he said.

"Only then did I come to my senses and screamed as loudly as I could, realising I didn't have it any more," he was quoted as saying.

Neighbours heard his screaming and rushed him to hospital, where doctors sewed his penis back on.

"The most important thing is that his tool is back in place. All's well that ends well," said doctor Srecko Djordjevic, who performed the operation.

There was a case several years ago, in Australia, in which a wife cut off her husband's penis with scissors. It's been featured in several women's magazines. The couple were middle-aged; their teenage son had died shortly before, after a long illness.

The wife claimed that a month or so after their son's death, her husband informed her that he was leaving her for another woman with whom he'd fallen in love during his son's long illness. The wife said afterwards that she'd been devastated. She said she'd expected to be able to turn to her husband for comfort after the death of their son, but when he told her that he was leaving her, she felt betrayed.

After telling his wife that he was leaving her for another woman, the husband went to take a shower. While he was showering, his distraught wife grabbed his penis and attempted to cut it off with a pair of household scissors. The man screamed in shock and pressed a towel to his groin; he stared at his wife in disbelief.

Contrite, the wife apologised. She instructed him to sit on the bed, then went for a bandage. The husband said his wife was solicitous as she tended his wound; first applying disinfectant and then preparing the bandage. She was normally caring and affectionate. It appeared she believed that he now regretted his affair and she was prepared to forgive him. Possibly, she believed he'd had the affair because of feelings of helplessness about his son's terminal illness and because she hadn't given him much attention because of her need to care for their son around the clock.

But when his wife learned he still intended to divorce her and marry his mistress, she became upset and cut off his penis with the scissors.

As the husband screamed in shock, his wife ran from the room and into the kitchen. The husband saw her throw his penis into the sink's electric garbage disposal unit.

Clutching a towel to his wound, the husband turned off the garbage disposal. He reached in and retrieved his mangled penis. In a later media interview, the husband said he stood there with his penis in his hand and said to it: ' Oh -- look at you, you poor little bastard '.

His wife contacted the ambulance which took her husband and his tattered penis to hospital, where surgeons reattached it during a several hour operation.

The couple were interviewed separately by the media, after the husband's release from hospital. At the husband's side was his future wife. They stated their intention to marry, even though the husband's penis no longer functioned satisfactorily. The husband complained of reduced sexual enjoyment and said he would be compelled to endure many months pysiotherapy etc. Doctor's had advised full sexual enjoyment may never be regained. They later married and appeared again in the media, where they stated full sexual enjoyment continued to evade them as a result of damage to the penis.

Some years later, the woman who had cut off her husband's penis again featured in the media. Sad and alone, she had moved, after her divorce, to a quiet seaside town where she had attempted to put the pieces of her life back together. Described as a quiet, conservative woman, she said her actions (cutting off her ex-husband's penis) were uncharacteristic of her. She had done her best to disappear from the media glare. Then one day, as she stood alone on a wharf, gazing out to sea, she'd been approached by a wonderful gentleman who was everything she dreamed of and who provided a shoulder to lean on. Gradually, she'd fallen in love and now the couple planned to marry. Her future husband said he knew the moment he met her that he wanted to care for her for the rest of her life. He's a millionare.

The final magazine article featured the glowing and now radiantly happy wife and her new, millionaire husband ... alongside a photo of her ex-husband and his new spouse, who described their still less than satisfactory sex life.

Man 'may have died from fright'

Mr Prudhoe had a daughter he had not seen for 14 years
A man whose genitals were cut off during a murder may have died from fright, an inquest has heard.
Stephen Prudhoe's mutilated body was found in March at his home in Blacon, near Chester.

Pathologist Dr Brian Rogers told the inquest in Chester he had looked into a police theory that Mr Prudhoe's private parts were eaten by his dog.

But he was found fully-clothed with his trouser zip closed, Dr Rogers added. The coroner recorded an open verdict.

He said he believed Mr Prudhoe's genitals were removed with a knife after his death but said it was impossible to tell what had killed him.

A post mortem examination revealed he suffered from severe pneumonia and had heart disease, but did not establish whether these had caused his death.

Dr Rogers added: "Whoever was with him in the house may have threatened to mutilate him.

"He had a very bad heart, he could well have just died by being frightened to death."

'True gentleman'

The pathologist said he had ruled out the possibility that Mr Prudhoe had inflicted the injuries on himself, as no knife was found near to the body.

He added: "I do not think any normal person could do that to themselves."

The inquest heard Mr Prudhoe had suffered depression and begun drinking heavily after his father died eight years ago.

He was described as a loner and had a daughter from a previous relationship, who he had not seen for 14 years.

Neighbours described him as friendly, kind and a "true gentleman" who was devoted to his dog, Milo, and enjoyed listening to rock music.

Det Chief Inspector Andrew Marsden, of Cheshire Constabulary, said a £10,000 reward had been offered for information about Mr Prudhoe's killer.

He said the missing genitalia had never been recovered, adding: "Somebody out there knows or has an inkling who did this."

Deputy Coroner for Cheshire, Dr Janet Napier, recording an open verdict, said: "Whether he died from fright, from the effects of extreme fear we do not know."

She added: "Somebody has done this to him but luckily it seems to have happened after death."

Amanda Monti, 24, flew into a rage after her ex-boyfriend, 37-year-old Geoffrey Jones, rejected her advances at the end of a drunken house party.

She yanked off his left testicle, which was later handed to him by a friend with the words: "That's yours."

Monti, of Birkenhead, Merseyside, pleaded guilty to wounding at Liverpool Crown Court and will be sentenced next month.

She attacked Mr Jones after a drinks party with friends at his house in May last year. As the drinks party was winding down, Monti told Mr Jones she wanted to discuss their relationship, which had ended earlier that month, and offered him sex.

When he refused, a struggle ensued and Mr Jones threw petite Monti, who is little more than 5ft 2ins tall, out of the house.

She then smashed a window and confronted him on the doorstep as he went to investigate. Another struggle took place and Monti was knocked to the floor, from where she pulled down Mr Jones' shorts.

In a statement read out by judge Charles James, Mr Jones continued: "I was left standing in my underpants. She was still lying on the floor.

"Suddenly she grabbed my genitals and pulled hard. That caused my underpants to come off and I found I was completely naked and in excruciating pain."

Referring to his friend Danny McDonagh, who was sleeping at the house after the party, Mr Jones said: "I believe Danny walked out shortly afterwards. He came into the kitchen and said to me, 'That's yours', and I saw that he was holding one of my testicles in his hand."

Monti initially tried to hide the testicle by putting it in her mouth, but released it. Doctors were unable to re-attach the organ.

Monti initially tried to hide the testicle by putting it in her mouth, but released it. Doctors were unable to re-attach the organ.

The court heard that Mr Jones had ended his long-term relationship with Monti towards the end of May last year.

The pair remained on good terms and on May 30, Monti offered to collect Mr Jones from a barbecue and drive him to his home in Netherton, Merseyside. She then drove him to another party and then home again, where friends joined them for more drinks.

As the drinks party was winding down, Monti told Mr Jones she wanted to discuss their relationship and offered him sex.

When he refused, she grabbed his face and a struggle ensued.

Reno man taken to hospital after self-castration procedure

A 50-year-old Reno man told authorities he castrated himself to lower his libido and learned of the procedure on the Internet, police said.

Washoe Medical Center officials cited privacy issues on why they could not release any information on the man.

About 1:30 a.m. Monday, police said the man called 911 and asked for help because he could not stop the bleeding from a self-castration operation.

Reno police and medics responded to the man’s home near Brinkby Avenue and Robinhood Drive, and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital.

Hospital officials said the man successfully castrated himself, police reported. No further information was available.

“The man obviously needs some sort of counseling,” Reno police Lt. Ron Donnelly said.

Wales's 11-9 victory over England at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff was their first home win in 12 years.

A JILTED woman who ripped off her ex-lover’s testicle with her bare hands was today jailed for two and a half years.

Amanda Monti, 24, flew into a rage when 37-year-old Geoffrey Jones rejected her advances at the end of a drunken house party.

She yanked off his left testicle and tried to swallow it, Liverpool Crown Court heard.

But Monti choked and spat it out before a friend handed it back to her former lover with the words: "That's yours."

In a statement read to the court, Geoffrey said: "Amanda attacked me in an unprovoked manner and the attack has ruined my life."

He added: "I cannot begin to describe the pain I’ve suffered."

Monti, from Birkenhead, Mersyeside, pleaded guilty to wounding.

Doctors were unable to re-attach the organ, and the court heard that Geoffrey, a bodybuilder, is so embarrassed by what happened he is planning to move house.

He ended his long-term relationship with Monti, who is 5ft 1in tall, towards the end of May last year.

In a letter to the court, Monti said she was sorry for what she had done.

She added: "I am in no way a violent person.

"I have challenged myself to explain what has happened but still I just cannot remember. This has caused much anguish to me and will do for the rest of my life."

Kenyan boys have penises rebuilt

Two Kenyan boys who had their penises cut off to make a potion to treat HIV/Aids have had reconstructive surgery in Spain.
The youngsters, aged 12 and 14, were mutilated after reportedly being given drugged food or drink by strangers.

Surgeons in Valencia said both were making an excellent recovery and the eldest was due to have a testicular prosthesis implanted next week.

The functional organs were rebuilt with forearm tissue and bone segments.

"They had attacked them to cut off their penises to sell ... for making a type of potion which according to a local belief cures Aids," said Dr Pedro Cavadas, from the Levante Rehabilitation Centre.

Dr Cavadas, who runs a humanitarian mission in western Kenya carrying out all kinds of reconstructive surgery, flew the boys over from the Bungoma region at the end of January.

Lives transformed

Dr Cavadas told the BBC news website that the boys' penises will be fully functional and recover complete feeling.

"They will be able to have normal sexual relations with erogenous sensitivity," he said.

The 14-year-old lost an ear, which was also rebuilt, trying to fend off his attackers after regaining consciousness during the mutilation, said Dr Cavadas.

"It seems that the dose of medication that they gave him to knock him out ... was badly calculated, and so he woke up in the middle of the attack," he said.

"He then tried to defend himself and because of this has a lot more injuries."

The foundation's website said two people had been arrested in connection with penis mutilation, although it was not clear if they were linked to the attacks on the boys.

"The practice of mutilating the penises of virgin boys is not a tradition among Kenyan tribes.

"The object of this mutilation was to make a potion to cure HIV/Aids," the website said.

Dr Cavadas, who noted this type of attack was rare in Kenya, said the boys had been transformed by their surgery, which took place at the end of January.

"They are fantastic, happy, their faces have changed and their lives have changed. They don't have to use a catheter...and they can live like children, messing around and being naughty."

Probably already been mentioned, but I once read about a tribe a long while ago that cut it off the defeated opposision and fed it to their wives.
This practice was obviousely reperesentative aswell as practical, and seems like an act that would bring satisfaction to the more primitive part of your brain if considered acceptable in whatever culture you live in. Making an ultimate statement of superiority over whoever your emasculating.
Maybe in some cases people are getting in touch with that, though unintentionally en mass.
