Oops! The Silly Mistakes Thread

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Police in Pennsylvania say they’ve arrested a man who showed up to an elementary school intoxicated and hoping to vote — on the wrong day.

Authorities charged 34-year-old Douglas Shuttlesworth with a DUI after they found him at a school in Harrisburg on Monday.

Police say Shuttlesworth appeared intoxicated and they later found out he drove to the school thinking it was Election Day.

A woman who identified herself over the phone as Shuttlesworth’s mother says her son mistakenly thought it was Tuesday. He was not available to comment on the charge.

A woman in Arkansas sent front and side photos of herself instead of her car to her car insurer. Kudos to her for admitting to the mistake in public. :rollingw:

Alyssa then described how the mix-up unfolded when her grandmother told her about the details the insurers had requested.

"She said he would need my driver's license number, my date of birth, and a picture straight on and a picture taken from each side. She gave me his email address and I emailed the information along with the pictures that night," She explained.

"The crazy thing is, I asked my mom to take the pictures after I got off work, and we discussed why in the world he would need pictures of me, never once considering it was supposed to be of my car.

Guy who forgot where he parked his car finds it 20 years later

The owner had parked his vehicle in a garage in Frankfurt in 1997 but then forgot and instead filed a report with police

Then by chance the mystery was solved two decades later.

Construction workers had contacted the police after finding the car as they were preparing to demolish the building.

Sadly, the car was no longer road worthy and instead was sent to a junk yard for scrap.

Naked [and allegedly drunk] man crashes into tree 'while having sex driving on motorway with newborn baby strapped in backseat'

The couple sustained multiple injuries after the vehicle slammed into a tree on a highway in Washington State in the US.

Michael Tonkin, 23, was allegedly drunk behind the wheel when Daisy LaRoque sat on top of him to engage in sexual activity, State Trooper Brooke Bova said.

Shocked witnesses said they saw the pair emerge fully naked from the car following the collision.

Miss LaRoque, 23, broke her pelvis while Tonkin broke his wrist.

If Tonkin is convicted, it will be his fourth DUI in Washington State - a felony offence.

He has also been charged with vehicular assault and child engagement.

Is reminded of the unpleasant squaddie pub phrase 'knocked her hip out' as in:

"How did you get on with that bird last night."
"Mate, I knocked her hip out."

Indeed. For a start, who is the newborn baby? If the driver is his/her father where is the child's mother? Surely it's not Miss LaRoque.

The link seems to have gone '403 Forbidden' but from memory I think the baby is hers & he's not the father. Does it make a difference to the story though? I think the baby was unhurt.

Yes it does. She has just given birth and is having sex? Think about it.

Grandmother orders gold lettering from Amazon for 9 year old granddaughter & instead receives this:

Mrs Greenhalgh, from Blackburn, Lancashire, complained to Amazon about the wrong item and was told she could keep it.

However, Millie was left even more disappointed as they were told the gold letters were out of stock and they have been refunded for the item.

You really need to check who the other party is before making an offer involving illegal goods ... :loopy:

Colorado man arrested after offering weed for sheriff’s SUV
A Colorado man landed in jail after offering to trade illegal homegrown marijuana for an SUV listed on Craigslist — a vehicle that happened to be owned by a sheriff.

... Teller County Sheriff Jason Mikesell recently received a text from a 39-year-old Vail man offering to buy his SUV.

The man sent photos of the product, and Mikesell says he showed the texts to detectives. A meet up was scheduled in Woodland Park in late November.

The man and a 41-year-old woman arrived for the swap and were arrested. Authorities say they found about 4 pounds (2 kilograms) of illegal marijuana in the duo’s car.

The man and woman were charged with possession with intent to sell.

Mikesell says he won’t relist the SUV on Craigslist.

Town Councillor accidently posts video of himself masturbating in school classroom on facebook

The video of Sebastiao da Costa Silva was left on the politician's public profile for two hours before he realised his mistake.

The embarrassed councillor, from the Brazilian Socialist Party, told Brazil's G1 website: "What happened was a mistake. Not everyone has the control to know how to use the app. I would never publish a video to jeopardise myself.

"I didn't send it to anyone. It is a normal act, because every man does that.

"Now I've become the victim of people who are spreading this video."

He added that he intends to start criminal proceedings against internet users who saved the video and reposted on other social networking sites.

"It is a normal act, because every man does that."

This is a blatant lie! :rage:

I'm a man, and I've never:

- masturbated while doing volunteer work, nor
- used Facebook

:pipe:

Pfft! That photographer is making excuses!
Nobody ever taught me how to retouch photos, I taught myself. I'm a bit surprised she can't teach herself these skills.

You wouldn't retouch faces in an outdoor group photo though, you'd lighten the whole picture and maybe adjust the colours a little.

Yup, I think even the Mail commentators have twigged that it has to be fake news.

Quite funny as images, though. I love the way they leave the doggies' faces untouched. :doggy:

I once took a photo of Techy which displayed with his face smooth and featureless, and metallic grey like aluminium. No 'shopping involved. Scary.

Back away from the Techy.
He's an alien, or a shapeshifting giant lizard.

No yolk, they'll have to shell out for that.

It is simple enough so what could possibly go wrong? Order 1,500 eggs to feed the hungry Norwegian athletes at the Winter Olympics.

Then get onto Google Translate to render the order in Korean, only to have 15,000 eggs turn up.

Chefs for Norway's Olympic team in South Korea are red-faced after ordering from a local supermarket.

The chefs blamed a translation error, but a typo might also be at fault.
