It's been explained to me that in the first trilogy the Force is out of balance and the Dark Side is ascendant. This is why Aniken is so important; he is destined to bring the Force into balance (so that it ceases to shift from one poll to another) for all time.

Perhaps while the Dark Side is ascendant a Jedi cannot keep their identity when they join with the Force, or rather they cannot manifest their identity from within the Force. But when the Force is in balance, or the Light Side is in ascent (as in the second trilogy) they can.

Who knows. Only George Lucas and he isn't telling.

It's that old thing about banning something immeadiately making it more desirable and mythical.

This is totally true of THE STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL. Everyone is told over and over again how horrible it is, but everyone is obsessed with seeing it. I had to pay 30 bucks for my bootleg. And it really is that horrble, yet it's like looking at a car accident. One can just not look away. You try watching Chewbacca's father in the virtual porn machine and tell me YOU don't need therapy.

...sorry, x-entertainment again.

For a review of the christmas special and screen caps go here:-

To get a perspective on how bad the prequel trilogy could have been and what George Lucas spared us from; to see how much Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford will degrade themselves; to see cheap marketing worse than Ewoks and Jar Jar Binks; to see a wookie watch porn; to have all your childhood memories excreted on from a great height; to save yourself $30 that you can then use on counselling; to download the entire episode go here:-

PUBLIC HEALTH WARNING:-

As the owner of the above site says

I've since gotten rid of the video, hopefully to never see it again. If you're curious about it...before you go on some wild search to find it...know this: you will regret it. I promise you that.

To finish with a quote from Tim Bisley (Simon Pegg) in Spaced

"Yeah, but Jar Jar Binks makes the Ewoks look like f*cking Shaft!"

Ah, wookies talking for ages in wookieanese with no subtitles, it's like a hairyer version of the famed BBC soap eldorado:hmph:

Had a scout around but it seems Lucasfilm is pulling the pictures off websites everywhere. I've no idea why the links don't work for you, but all I can suggest is you navigate there via comingsoon.net before they get a cease and desist order too....

Or you could just wait till 2005 :D

Yes. 'Cus I'm famous for my patience:D

Oops. Sorry. Strayed into the Sarcasm Thread there for a second.

Nope. That don't work either. Looks like I'm doomed...;)

Works for me too. Though not caring about Star Wars I suppose it doesn't make that much difference. ;)

BTW, DD, you were asking about the underwear-eating drunk driver the other day (um, right???). Try putting 'David Zurfluh' into google. You get a lot of hits, but they all end up citing one article from a newspaper that does not appear to be online. So not sure if its a legit story or not.

Just Helen being awkward for a change then :D

Cheers, lopaka, I'll look it up. :)

Hmm... it just worked for me...
there is a direct link, but has a spoiler in the title...
What a dillema!?! ;)

TVgeek

I could see the pic TV Geek posted, but the ones Dark Det posted have been taken down I think because it says something about an error and the Star Wars something or other not being a valid.
Creepy pic indeed, TV Geek. I really didn't recognise the real actor and am sure no one else could either! :eek!!!!:

Of course, the real question is: What does Christopher Lee think of it? After all, he's on the payroll, and he's probably the best person to judge.

It is creepy though.

TVGeek: run the direct link through makeashorterlink, or tinyurl. That will obscure the spoiler in the URL, but still direct people to the correct place.

Ok, I've noticed from the INDY 4 thread that you beautiful UK people are forward thinkers.

e.g. Liking TEMPLE OF DOOM more than LAST CRUSADE and all. That's unheard of in my country. I salute you.

My favorite SW is still RETURN OF THE JEDI.

You can't beat those space battles even today, 20 years later.

And that triangle of hate involving Luke, Darth, and the Emperor cannot be beat for emotional content.

Hell, I even didn't mind the Ewoks. Primitive culture destroying advanced technology.

Episode III Release Dates Announced

April 05, 2004

The circle will at last be complete when Star Wars: Episode III is released to theaters in the United States and Canada, with a near-simultaneous release around the world, on Thursday, May 19, 2005. In Japan, Episode III will be released in July, the traditional month for Star Wars premieres.

Exact information for other countries outside of the U.S. and Canada will be coming shortly, so keep checking starwars.com for full details as May 2005 approaches.

In North America, May has been the traditional release date for Star Wars films since the first movie in 1977. The North American release dates for the previous films in the Star Wars saga are:

Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope - May 25, 1977
Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back - May 21, 1980
Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi - May 25, 1983
Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace - May 19, 1999
Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones - May 16, 2002

Why is it tradional to launch a Star Wars movie in Japan during July?

Its the month the Tengu all go on holiday to the `Other World` and so they wont be around to burn down the cinema (a traditional Tengu celebration)

Yes, yes, - "Star Wars is crap, LOTR rules" - Whatever. Since the series is such wretched rubbish, and the throngs now have a new savior in Peter Jackson ( and make no mistake, I share the opinion that the man is a genius, and have been a fan since 'Bad Taste') can we please agree that George Lucas is finished, and move on? ( and BTW, so as not to lose sight of this fact, please keep chanting that mantra when you are queing up to see Episode Three for the sixth or seventh time...just to make CERTAIN it's as awful as the rest of the series...gotta be sure, right? ) Looking forward to the King Kong remake ( spiders! FINALLY spiders! ) just hope it isn't an abortion, like the 1998 Godzilla 'update'...

Yes, and why dont you show some Tengu solidarity and...

...BURN DOWN THE CINEMA!!!

(Having said that, there is certainly a lot of bushido/tengu imagery in SW....)

I saw it when I was a wee jedi and remembered it being cringe-worthy way back then. Had a chance to see it again ( on a bootleg )...words cannot describe the HORROR...the HORROR...pretty cool little animated bit featuring the first-ever appearance of Boba Fett but - well, to give you some idea of the rest, imagine Carrie Fisher ( as Leia ) singing some loopy intergalactic lyrics to the tune of the Star Wars theme. Best left out of official Star Wars canon. ( Best shot out of an actual cannon ).
