Strange Crimes

Little background info as yet.

A man reportedly armed with a knife attacked passers-by on the streets of the Norwegian capital, Oslo, on Tuesday, before being shot dead by police, officials said.

Norwegian media published footage of the alleged attacker, naked from the waist up and wielding a knife. Police said only that there was “more than one” victim and gave no information about their condition. A news conference was called for late morning.

Police said a patrol car in the Bislett neighborhood of northern Oslo drove into a building to halt the attacker's progress. He then attacked the vehicle and managed to open the car door, police spokesman Torgeir Brenden said.

He said “several shots” were fired at the man but did not specify whether it was the police officers in the car who opened fire. Brenden said the perpetrator was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died.

I reckon the police thought this bloke was high on summat.
They stated that he was 'arrested on suspicion of public order offences and dangerous driving and released on bail.'

Man complains of police ‘bullying’ after mooning at speed camera

Darrell Meekcom, 55, from Kidderminister, who was diagnosed with multiple system atrophy (MSA) last month, pulled down his trousers and bared his bottom to a camera believing it was “a good laugh”, he told his local newspaper.

But within 20 minutes, he found six officers at his front door, banging on his window, and was restrained and arrested on suspicion of committing public order offences.

.....

In the video, which has appeared online, he is seen lying on the ground in his garden as police arrest him, saying: “I’ve just been diagnosed with multiple system atrophy. I’m terminally ill. It was one off my bucket list. Haven’t you ever wanted to moon at a speed camera?” As one officer replies “No”, he continues: “Well I did.”

A 70-year-old Minneapolis woman allegedly threatened a state trooper with a fake gun made of duct tape and tinfoil before climbing onto a bridge over an interstate with a bottle of tequila in hand.

Her big mistake was removing her protective headgear and using the tinfoil to craft the fake gun ... :thought:

Three men 'tortured and killed archaeologist and teen daughter over rare Stradivarius violins'

The victims, some years ago

The three Germans are believed to have tortured acquaintance Bernard von Bredow, 62, to death last month in order to force him to turn over certificates of authenticity for four of the rare musical instruments, which could be worth as much as $16m (£11.8m) each.

Von Bedrow’s body was discovered covered in burns and bruises lying on a table with a gunshot wound to the back of his head on Oct. 22 in the town of Aregua, near Asuncion. The body of his daughter Lydia/Loreena was found in a bath full of water with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Police initially suspected they had been the victims of a robbery that went wrong. But on Wednesday they announced the arrest of three German expats: Volker Grannass, 58, Yves Asriel Spartacus Steinmetz, 60, and Stephen Jorg Messing Darchinger, 51.

Paraguay has a sizeable German expat community, and von Bredow - who became world-famous at the age of 16 by discovering a woolly mammoth skeleton near his home in Bavaria - made a living restoring valuable antique musical instruments.

New Banksy to commemorate this heinous [sic] crime

Graffiti depicting a 'mooning' Bart Simpson has appeared near the home of a man arrested after baring his behind to a speed camera van.
The street art appeared in a subway in the town on Saturday.

Mr Meekcom said he received anonymous messages from someone who told him they "represented an international street artist" who wanted to do a piece based on his experience.
Banksy has not confirmed it’s his.

The Medical Examiner’s report released Friday revealed that Janness was stabbed more than 50 times in the face, neck and torso. She also suffered blunt force injuries to her face, neck and extremities.

Her throat was slashed and the letters “F,” “A” and “T” were etched into her body, according to the report.

The night that she was killed, Janness had dinner with her wife, Emma Clark, and then took her dog for a walk in the park.

When Janness didn’t come home, Clark pinged her phone. Clark went to the park, where she found the disfigured body of Janness and her dead dog near the 10th Street entrance.

A court has imposed a restraining order to protect a retired racehorse from the unwanted attentions of a grandmother who refused to stop feeding him carrots.
In a ruling rarely – if ever – passed by a British court, the horse was afforded legal protection from over-feeding after prosecutors made the application to magistrates on his behalf.

Seems she has previous form
Mrs Porter was arrested and on Thursday faced court for the second time in her life. The first was in 2005 when she was convicted of assaulting her brother with three sticks of rhubarb in an unrelated family spat.

Arrested for being an old dear? Whatever next!
The old dear seems to be an interfering busybody with a nasty streak and a particular set of skills involving rhubarb.
In March 2005, Northallerton magistrates heard Mrs Porter lost her temper after her estranged brother, William, laughed at her while driving past in his Land Rover in Askrigg, Wensleydale.

She flung three sticks of rhubarb from her cottage window, catching him in the right eye with one of them.

The court ordered Porter to do 40 hours’ community service and barred her from entering property belonging to her son, with whom she had also fallen out.

Syrian with car full of life jackets arrested in Ulvenhout

A 25-year-old Syrian was arrested last night in Ulvenhout by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee on suspicion of involvement in human smuggling. He had a large number of life jackets, an inflatable boat and an outboard motor in his car.

The man, who lives in Germany, came into the picture at a police check. After the discovery, the police called in the marechaussee, writes Omroep Brabant.

Research showed that the Syrian was on his way to France. The marechaussee suspects that he was preparing the smuggling of refugees, possibly via the Channel between France and England. Additional research should clarify this.

Last Tuesday, a Syrian man from Germany was also arrested on suspicion of human smuggling. He was arrested during a regular check in Babberich in Gelderland and transported seven people from Syria without valid papers.

It does make me chuckle though - I mean what else is he likely to be doing with a car full of life-jackets, an inflatable boat, and an outboard motor?
Hardly likely to be going to a scouting jamboree, is he?

Cell for former employee rijkswaterstaat for millions of fraud
A 48-year-old man from Druten has been sentenced to 30 months in prison, six months of which are conditional, for fraud and forgery. The man worked as a civil servant for Rijkswaterstaat and scams his employer in seven years for 2.3 million euros.

Between January 2012 and January 2019, he issued 321 false invoices. Based on those invoices, the man paid out more than 2.3 million euros to himself and others. The court charges the man heavily that he, as a civil servant, has appropriated taxpayers' money.

The man was also suspected of embezzlement of an arrow truck (the LED-lighted arrow type), tools and 15,000 euros. The court does not consider this to be proven. The sentence imposed is nevertheless equal to the requirement of the Public Prosecution Service, reports Omroep Gelderland.

The man must also be treated by the court because the probation service has concerns about his financial situation and his thinking and doing. "The Defendant has repeatedly indicated that he may have acted wrongly, but he does not seem sufficiently able to look at his own share," the judgment states. "He also downplays his actions by pointing out that his employer has been inefficient in spending large amounts of money, which has allowed his behavior to continue for so long."

In addition to the treatment, the man must also cooperate in paying off his debts.

A couple were stabbed to death in their home. There seems to have been a long-running parking dispute.

Somerset couple stabbed to death as young children slept upstairs

A husband and wife were stabbed to death at their Somerset home as their children slept upstairs, police have said.

Paramedics tried to save Stephen Chapple, 36, a teacher, and Jennifer Chapple, 33, who worked in a coffee shop, but they died of their wounds in their house in the village of Norton Fitzwarren, near Taunton.

When police arrived they found their children, aged five and six, still asleep. Officers ushered them away, not allowing them to see their parents’ bodies.

Neighbours said there had been disputes about parking in the street and that police had visited on at least three previous occasions to speak to those involved.

Charles Doty Jr (63) was so upset by a 10 minute wait for a Little Caesar's pizza, that he armed himself w/a AK-47 in his car, then came back into the restaurant & demanded his food while aiming the weapon at staff.

I had to wait over an hour for a pizza once, but didn't react like that. I imagine this guy would have levelled the place.

I feel a certain sympathy as I don't wait for food.
