Daft question - of course there's interest. Tell us everything!camper178 said:I also witnessed something I can only describe as a Foo Fighter, about ten years ago. I'll write that one up if there is any interest.

I just wanted to tell some people, who seem to be interested in this type of thing about what I saw. I was driving on the main road between Aberdeen and Inverness a few weeks ago. I was on my way to a call out for a hurry up job on a rig near Invergordon and it was about 1am, so it was quite dark. I've done this run loads of times so I know the road well. As I got past Elgin I realised I was bursting for a pee, and I'd past the only 24 hour garage a few miles back. I knew theres a big layby used by trucks, so I thought I'd pull in there and do the needful. Not nice but theres no toilets open around there that I've found.
I was slowing down to pull in when I see two lights, one red and one white side by side. I figured there was a truck in the layby. The thing is they are high up, like at treeline height and I'm thinking thats strange, must be one helluva big truck. I start to make my turn in and as I look to the side, I realise the lights are moving sideways relative to me. the way they moved it was as if they were fixed to something spinning pretty slow. At this point my toilet worries just about moved round the back so to speak and I didn't hang about, Just did a rapid U turn and carried on up the road. The hairs on my neck were standing I got such a fright.
The problem is that everyone I have told, and I only told a couple of close friends and family, have tried to convince me I was watching a big lorry turning in the car park. But the problem is the driver would have had no headlights on or even sidelights low down where you'd expect them to be, and turning without lights in that layby would be just about impossible. I know trucks have lights placed high up on trailers, but when I went back in daylight, a couple of days later, judging by the height of the trees, the lights must have been over 50 feet off the ground. There have been big rigs in the layby and the top of the container or trailers never get anywhere close to the height these lights were. The lights were red and white, so my brother who used to drive trucks reckons that one of the red lenses has broken, so it showed a white light.
My kids came with me on a run one day and of course I had told them about this. They responded by doing the music from the X files as we passed the layby.
I'm not sure what I saw. I am certain it could not be a truck. If it was, then it was the biggest freakin truck I've ever seen at least in height. My mate says it was maybe something from one of the RAF bases, as theres 2 within a few miles. But there was no sound like a helicopter would make, and no way was it a fixed wing plane as it was clearly stationary in, or rather over the layby.

Plus if I have work buddies with me, theirs no way I'll stop for photos. I'd get slaughtered at work if I even mentioned this. Sorry. But if I was alone I would stop no worries.
Ginando. I see what you mean about helicopters. I see them all the time at heliport at Aberdeen when I was going offshore. If it was a chopper, I'd have heard it, and they have str obe lights. This just had 2 lights maybe 10 feet apart, but hard to say cause I wasn't waiting. The more I think about it, your right about the downdraft. That wind would knock you off youre feet and I would've heard something. The vans a Mercedes and its not even a year old so its not noisey.
I took this off google map. it shows the place http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=a ... 9&t=h&z=16 and this is a closeup

Theres a white van in a parking bay in the picture and thats where the lights were. As I come from the east I saw the lights as I passed the trees to the east of where that parked van is and the lights showing white nearest me and red furthest. But as I start to turn in I can see the lights facing me and the red lights at the left white at right. so if its the same lights the things turned. I'm slowing down and watching and they were moving. No doubt about it, so I did a quick Carlos fandango and went back onto the main road. I must've checked my mirrors till they were worn out. Better go. Girlfriend shouting for dinner. Not sure what else to tell you. Thats it.
