friday april 22 2005 WINNIPEG -- A zoologist at the University of Manitoba says he's "very skeptical'' about a reported Bigfoot sighting near the remote community of Norway House.
Professor James Hare says there is always the possibility of discovering a new species of animal.
But he says if Bigfoot does exist, someone in North America would probably have found hard evidence by now.
He adds many sightings have turned out to be hoaxes.
Bobby Clarke, a ferry operator, has a short piece of video footage of what appears to be a tall, hairy creature walking upright in the Nelson River.
Many residents in Norway House have seen the video, but Clarke has now stopped showing the tape and is hoping to sell it to a media outlet.
A Vancouver author and amateur researcher says Bigfoot-type creatures exist and are likely in northern Manitoba.
Chris Murphy says there have been dozens of sightings in the region, and the remote forest is an ideal habitat.

The only detail my coworker could remember is that the thing was human-like and about 3 feet across at the shoulders.
Last summer, while fishing in Southern Ontario, my brothers saw a human-like creature standing about 10 miles in from Highway 11 on a logging road around dusk.

Last summer, while fishing in Southern Ontario, my brothers saw a human-like creature standing about 10 miles in from Highway 11 on a logging road around dusk.
As they caught sight of him, they slowed down, coming to a stop about 30 meters away from him. He was over 6 feet tall, dressed in what appeared to be dark furs, with his arms apparently to the side and his legs spread slightly apart.
He just stood there and stared at them. One brother looked at the other and said, "This is gonna get weird."
They assumed it was some angry local who they'd pissed off somehow on the way into the lake they were fishing.
My brother creeped the truck forward to see if the man-thing would move or give some indication of his intention. He just stood perfectly still, staring.
Finally, just as one brother was about to say to the other, "It's time to leave." the driving brother slammed the truck into reverse and prepared to back out of there at speed if necessary in case the man-thing came running after them.
Just as he did so, the man-thing appeared to step to the side. They stopped and watched as the torso lengthened and two more legs sprouted miraculously from the body.
It was a moose.
(As they told the story to those of us who had been fishing on another lake that day, they said that, had they took off any sooner, they wouldn't have seen the animal move and would have sworn up and down that they'd seen Sasquatch.)
Edit: (I should mention that both my brothers are experienced outdoorsmen. They have hunted and fished all their lives. And they have witnessed and hunted many, many large animals in the woods.)

Sasquatch Interview - April 26th /05
This is what ive been yakkin' about all morning long, this is that exclusive interview cj1240 has with Mr. Bobby Clarke the
man who allegedly has footage of a sasquatch or bigfoot or unknown animal up by Norway House, he was a ferry operator who has
caught uh, a couple of satudays back and he came out an announced that he has this video and it's been getting attention all
accross north america, and ive been speaking with his wife Winnie and his brother Garnet Henry over the past week and finally
got in touch with Mr Bobby Clark, and here is the interview.
CJ: Now uh, Bobby, you guys took the video tape down to Winnipeg correct?
BC: That's Correct.
CJ: Where did you take it down there?
BC: mid-cam or something like that.
CJ: was it a specialist looking at it trying to enhance the video?
BC: he took a look at it and said no, we cant do anything about it.
CJ: ok it's pretty unclear then?
BC: ya.
CJ: what did the video itself look like? i realize that it was across the river and it was pretty early in the morning 6:30
or so, was it pretty dark?
BC: no, there was alot of light already
CJ: can you describe it in your words, what you saw?
BC: what i saw?
CJ: ya.
BC: I saw a big dark figure, ah at first i guess i thought it was a moose standing there but then it starded walking. and
thats when i grabbed my camera and recorded it , pretty big, very big, i figure its pretty big so i donno, it's large, a
large dark object.
CJ: now Garnet
BC: my brother?
CJ: your brother, he was saying that it could have been, just from comparing it to the trees in the back ground, about ten
feet tall
BC: ya, it could be at least ten feet tall
CJ: it was pretty apparant that it wasnt walking on four legs it was on it's it was on two legs?
BC: it was on two ya.
CJ: when it walked back into the bush was it sprinting or just kind of
BC: it was just walking into the bush, nothing fast
CJ: you must have been pretty shakin up when you saw this
BC: it didnt really bug me till later on that afternoon
CJ: when you later realized what it was you had seen?
BC: ya, later when i realized, it didnt effect me in any way , not right off the batcause of my duties at work i guess,
just had to keep on workin, not trying to let it bug me.
CJ: i just kinda have to ask you this because obviously there's gonna be alot of skeptics, what ive heard from your wife and
your brother, it seems pretty genuine it doesnt seem like you guys are trying to pull the wool over anybodies eyes, and your
not trying to say one thing or the other, your just trying to get answers yourselves.
BC: ya, ya thats for sure, we are trying to get our own answers too.
CJ: and actually you have been contacted by more than obviously ourselves have you heard from the local newspapers in
Winnipeg , and the National?
BC: Nationally yes, Ive had a few phone calls, from california, one in florida and other places like that.
CJ::you guys were recieving alot of offers?
BC: no, nobody making any offers now. I told them that i was gonna keep the video and that was it. That was that.
CJ: so you dont have any plans to release the video, because we have been getting alot of calls at cj1240 here in The Pas
just wondering if I knew of anything of when the general public would maybe get to take alook at the video, is that goign to
be a possiblity or is that something that you guys are gonna decide on your own time.
BC: It's hard to say right now at the moment, not really sure when I will be able to release the video, soon as they find
out more about it too i guess, that's when i'll release it.
CJ: you do have more plans on taking the video elsewhere and getting different specialists to look at it?
BC: no, we havent had any other plans at all
CJ: so you really didnt find out a whole lot when you took it down to Winnipeg , they just said that they could do much with
the tape?
BC: The first one that we took it to down there was trying to tinker with it , i dont know, i dont really know if that woman
knew what she was doing
CJ: oh really?
BC: ya., maybe she was just some kind of editor or something like that, im not really surem but she was talking about some
other guy, that she works with i guess, said maybe that he could have done alot better job with it.
CJ: so when you first really got the tape, were you kind of hesitant to tell anybody about it or ask questions?
BC: ya i was very very hesitant about it, to ask anybody about it.
CJ: so what made you come out and speak about it?
BC: I don't know, it just happened so fast, everything is just a blur right nowm so i dont really know.
CJ: so when you see something like that, you might just be pretty scared to show it and recieve some kind of backlash from
some sort of people. But from what i have heard, you guys have show the video to quit a few friends and family up in norway
house and the response has been pretty unanimous, nobody really knows what it is, doesnt really look like a hunter, its
obviously not a moose or a bear . whats your personal opinion? do you put any stock in any sort of mythical thing like a
sasquatch or a bigfoot, do you think that is a possibllity on your mind?
BC: yes, i think so ya, i dont think this is the first time ive seen something like this, it's the first time ive ever
caught something on camera for sure, yes i think so , ya.
CJ: and alot of peaple where asking why you had the camera with you?
BC: well i just recently bought this camera for my wife for christmas and i just decided to take it cause i just went out
hunting, geese hunting, out in the bush here and i take it aroubd just about everywhere i go now.
CJ: can i just get you to describe just the events briefly which is leading up to what you saw?
BC: what i saw?
CJ: ya.
BC: it happened so fast, there is so much pressure and media, i'll tell you what i tell everybody, i just got to work that
morning , i went across to pick up a vehicle that showed up on the other side of the river and then i came back. I was out
side in the back by the (inaudible) cabin there, i seen this, i had like an eerie feeling like someone was looking at me, and
i had to turn around, so that's how this dark figure arcoss the river! it was standing still there for a while, it started
walking there, thats when i ran for my the camera,
CJ: and after you grabbed the camera, did it seem to notice you, did it appear to notice you across the river?
BC: probably ya, it probably noticed me, why shouldnt it, the ferry is very very loud
CJ: and the animal just walked back into the bush?
BC: ya
CJ: but either way, it sounds to me like you caught some pretty fantatic footage of this animal, would you mind if we kept in
contact with you whenever you guys find something out so we can get updates from you?
BC: ya sure, i dont think that would be a problem, its just alot of people phoning and wanting interviews and people asking
me to send them the original copy and letting them do this editing for free.
CJ: eventually you might take this video elsewhere and get more answers
BC: yes, ill probably try that, as soon as i get more money. i dont want anybody elses money i guess you can say.
CJ: your not interested in the money side , you just want the answers
BC: I just want the answers now, yes.

Bigfoot video makes big dollars
Canadian sasquatch story -- complete with video of a massive, hairy beast -- will air on Fox
By DAWN WALTON

From Tuesday's Globe and Mail
CALGARY — Canadian sasquatch story -- complete with video of a massive, hairy beast -- will air tomorrow night on A Current Affair, the granddaddy of American tabloid television, the Fox network said.
However, since the program broadcasts only in the United States, Canadians without special cable service or satellite who are interested in catching a glimpse of the video that grabbed headlines around the world will have to be content with watching a snippet of Northern Manitoba's supposed sasquatch on the Internet (http://www.acurrentaffair.com <http://www.acurrentaffair.com>).
The network said yesterday that its bigfoot segment will be posted on its website for international viewers on Thursday.
Matt Moneymaker, a sasquatch hunter and the director of the U.S.-based Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization, has viewed the video, which was shot along the Nelson River about 500 kilometres north of Winnipeg.
"For those of us who have been studying authentic footage and debunking bogus footage for a long time, the full circumstances of this incident point to a credible encounter," Mr. Moneymaker says on his organization's website.
He describes the image as blurry and shot from a distance, but clearly not an illusion caused by light, a bear or fabrication.
"[It is] a dark, upright, primate figure, with arms and legs somewhat like a human, standing on a riverbank," he writes.
"[It is] either a human or a sasquatch, but among those two candidates it is not clearly one or the other, due to the blurriness of the footage."
Bobby Clarke, the videographer who lives in Norway House, Man., has received an undisclosed amount of money for giving the Fox program first crack at airing the video, according to his family.
Mr. Clarke is a ferry operator who was working an early morning shift when he spotted something peculiar on the river bank.
The images, shot with a camcorder that he is rarely without, show about 30 seconds of a huge, hairy creature some viewers have described as perhaps three metres tall.
The video has been viewed by hundreds of people in Mr. Clarke's mother's living room in their remote community.
When interest from media outlets and sasquatch aficionados started flooding in from around the world, Mr. Clarke stopped taking calls and his mother cut off access to the video.
The family began looking for a buyer and experts to view the tape. According to Langford Saunders, who is a town councillor in Norway House and the uncle of Mr. Clarke's wife, the folks at A Current Affair seemed the most interested and were the first to make the trek north.
Mr. Saunders won't talk finances, but the gossip going around bigfoot tracking circles is an amount in the six figures.
"It's a long-term thing for the family and for tourism in the community," Mr. Saunders said.
Mr. Saunders said it was important to the family to have the video assessed by an expert and they were thrilled with Mr. Moneymaker's opinion.
"We weren't too sure what we have. Now we are," Mr. Saunders said.
Chris Baker said:They need to film a human walking in the same place and film it from the same point.
