Well… if there was every any doubt about his still being lodged somewhere in the UK’s collective subconscious. Not any more.

I dunno. When you know that he’s a real guy, and not some kind of fictitious urban legend, it feels a but more sinister knowing that people are genuinely writing songs about him. No matter what kind of protection orders he’s been given, it just feels a little ghoulish to me.

Documentary about Purple Aki
This is the full, in-depth story of Akinwale Arobieke — better known as Purple Aki — a man whose name became synonymous with fear across the North West of England. From urban legend to real-life court cases, this video traces the disturbing truth behind one of Britain's most infamous figures.

We break down his obsession with muscles, the tragic death of Gary Kelly, the legal battles that followed, and the decades of harassment accusations that turned him into a national bogeyman.

Synchronicity?

Yesterday my eldest was squeezing my youngest’s muscles in his arm. I asked the eldest “Who do you think you are, Purple Aki?”

Obviously the kids had no idea what I was on about. But my wife from Warrington (I’m from Leigh) had no idea what I was on about.

I’m 52 and in the 70s and 80s was warned about Purple Aki.

It goes back to the 70s? I didn't realise his "activities" went back so far.

Someone should do a Hauntological Aki-themed album.
