Max might be interested in the Panther tank.

A German court has convicted an 84-year-old man of illegal weapons possession for having a personal arsenal that included a Panther tank, an anti-aircraft cannon and other items of Second World War-era military equipment.

The state district in the northern city of Kiel handed the man a suspended prison sentence of 14 months and ordered him to pay a fine of 250,000 euros (£213,000), the German news agency dpa reported.

It also ordered the defendant, whose name was not given in line with German privacy laws, to sell or donate the 45-ton tank and the flak gun to a museum or a collector within the next two years.

Authorities discovered the illegal military arsenal during a 2015 raid of the collector’s storage facility in northern Germany in an investigation into black market Nazi-era art which turned up two bronze horse statues which once stood in front of Adolf Hitler’s chancellery. Those items were in another man’s possession.

Er......They contradict their own ruling there don't they?
Could he therefore donate it to himself?

Police in Tokyo have arrested a man who stabbed 10 people with a knife on a moving commuter train in Tokyo. Nine passengers were taken to hospital with injuries. One of them was seriously injured. The 10th wounded man was able to go home on his own.

After the emergency brake was pulled, passengers ran off the train in panic, according to eyewitnesses. In that chaos, the unsub managed to escape. He left his knife on the train.

The stabbing incident happened near seijogakuen station. The train in which it happened runs mostly above ground, but in the part where the attack took place, the train runs underground.

The offender was later arrested at a store. According to the shopkeeper, the man had blood stains on his T-shirt and said he was tired of fleeing. The shopkeeper then called the police who arrested the man. o_O

One math lesson Prof. Edward C. Ennels taught at Baltimore City Community College was, according to prosecutors, pretty simple: $150 for a C; $250 for a B; and $500 for an A. And in some courses, an A could go for as little as $300. Over the course of seven months last year, Mr. Ennels, 45, solicited bribes from 112 students, and received 10 payments from nine students, totaling $2,815, the Maryland attorney general, Brian E. Frosh, said in a statement on Thursday.

Mr. Ennels, a professor at the college for 15 years who served on the faculty senate’s Ethics and Institutional Integrity Committee, pleaded guilty on Thursday in Baltimore County Circuit Court to 11 misdemeanor charges, including bribery and misconduct in office, according to prosecutors and online court records.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but one year of the term suspended and to be served in a local jail. He was also ordered to pay $60,000 in restitution and will be on probation for five years upon his release.

Most students declined to pay the bribes and Mr. Ennels “often persisted, offering to lower the amount of the bribe or offering payment plans,” according to the statement.

https://marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolution/2021/08/is-this-the-correct-market-price.html

From the comments:

"Benjamin J. Herbst, a lawyer for Mr. Ennels, said in an interview on Thursday night that Mr. Ennels did what he did “only to keep up with a gambling addiction” and was “in no way motivated” by greed. "

I'm actually surprised the prices were so low. $500 for an A is NOTHING. I remember reading an article written by a professional paper writer a long time ago. IIRC, several hundred dollars was the very bottom of what he'd take for a short, simple paper. Also note, he could knock out a dissertation in virtually any subject in a few days' time. The hard sciences were the only subjects he wouldn't/couldn't do. College is a fucking joke.

This Colorado criminal trio were so consistent in leaving unicorn-related items behind that unicorns became the trademark by which they were identified, connected, identified, and arrested.
Unicorn Figurines, Pictures Led Investigators To Boulder County Crime Spree Suspects

Investigators who were trying to solve a series of crimes in Boulder County kept running across unicorn figurines and pictures of unicorns. They say those small discoveries as they were recovering stolen property and executing search warrants, helped them tie the crimes together and identify three suspects in their case. ...

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office says Shane Phillips, Marie Roman, Adrian Quintana had an “affection for unicorns” and left clues as they stole cars and swiped packages from homes in the county. ...

The crimes took place in Boulder, Lyons and Longmont, and also included vehicle trespasses. They started happening in September and continued through February. It’s estimated that they stole items that added up to $115,000 in value during that time. ...

As for the discovery of the unicorn books, drawings and figures in the stolen cars and other places, sheriff’s spokeswoman Carrie Haverfeld said “We can’t speak to what their intent was, whether they left them as calling cards or whether we just happened to find them ..."

On December 31, 2019, New Year’s Eve, a woman was visited for the first time by a long-distance boyfriend who proposed to her later that night at a party. After plotting in a hotel room, Shaylyn Moran’s brand new fiancé Jack Doherty went to a house the next day, where Doherty allegedly shot and killed Cheryl Smith, the mother of Moran’s ex-boyfriend, as part of a twisted revenge plot. While Doherty is still awaiting trial, Moran has admitted her role in the murder and will spend the rest of her days in prison as a result.

Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha ... announced Thursday that the Pawtucket woman had pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree murder, carrying a pistol without a license, and conspiracy to commit murder in Smith’s death. During an arrest in Rotterdam, an officer was hit in the leg by a bullet fired by a discarded firearm. He was taken to hospital with injuries, police said. Three Rotterdammers aged 22, 26 and 32 have been arrested.

The incident happened around 2 a.m. on the Westblaak in the center of the city. Officers detained three men there after a report of a threat in nearby Unity Square. When officers tried to search the men, one of them threw away a bag containing a firearm. The gun then went off and the bullet hit the officer in the leg. The officer has since returned home after being treated in hospital.

Child kidnapped by gang over satanic abuse fear.

"A gang of people kidnapped a child after one of them believed the infant had been the victim of satanic abuse.

Three people have been found guilty of conspiracy to kidnap the child on Anglesey in November 2020 while three others admitted the charge.

Anke Hill, 51, snatched the child from the street outside their home while Wilfred Wong, 56, threatened the child's foster mother with a knife.

The pair, and four others, will be sentenced in September."

Kidnapping or rescuing? It sounds like they thought they were saving the child from abuse.

To me, reading between the lines and factoring in measures to protect the child’s identity, we have a plot by the natural mother to snatch her kid back from foster care. The whole “Satanic child abuse” story is something that the various chav-barrelled names have come up with in order to whitewash their crime.

Sounds like a thread we had on'ere, where a poster bragged of having 'rescued' a teenager from a cult, locked her in a cellar and personally deprogrammed her. Prat. I ripped into him.

Man bit off motorist’s nipple during road rage clash on Lake Shore Drive, prosecutors say

A Chicago man battered an off-duty CPD officer and bit the nipple off the cop’s buddy during a road rage incident Sunday night on Lake Shore Drive, prosecutors said.

Kyle-Clark.jpg

Kyle Clark

Kyle Clark, 35, also had a gun in his car, according to the allegations. But you’re probably more interested in hearing about the nipple.

Prosecutors said the off-duty cop and the other victim, both 38-year-old men, were heading north on Lake Shore Drive when a black Volkswagen Jetta sideswiped them near Jackson Street around 11:40 p.m. Sunday.

The men pulled up next to the Jetta and ordered Clark to pull over so they could file a crash report and the off-duty cop identified himself as a Chicago police officer, prosecutors said.

Clark and the cop both got out of their cars, and Clark punched the cop twice in the face, according to prosecutors. When the other victim tried to help the off-duty cop, Clark bit the man’s nipple and tore it completely off, prosecutors said.

On-duty officers arrived and took Clark into custody after a brief struggle, according to the allegations. The victim who allegedly lost his nipple was taken to a nearby hospital to have the wound closed with stitches.

Rescued mule stabbed in face at Rye animal sanctuary

A mule that had been rescued from neglect has been stabbed in the face at an animal shelter.

The ageing animal, named Tommy, was attacked in a field at Undercliff Pony Rescue in Rye, East Sussex, on Monday.

Owner Sharon Baker said Tommy had been left with a "gaping great hole in his cheek" and lost several teeth after being stabbed with a large knife.

"We can heal the wound, but it's the mental scars that's going to take a long time," she said.

Sussex Police are investigating and a supporter of the sanctuary has offered a £1,000 reward for information leading to a conviction, Ms Baker said.

"This person does need to be caught and brought to book over it," she said.

Man admits 'foot fetish' nuisance calls costing the NHS £21,000

A man has admitted making hundreds of nuisance calls to the NHS 111 line in order to indulge a "sexual foot fetish", police said.

Richard William Cove, 45, from Worthing, West Sussex, made more than 1,200 calls, costing the NHS £21,000.

Pretending to be an elderly woman, he would ask call handlers about their feet, Sussex Police said.

PC David Quayle said Cove had admitted making the calls "for his own enjoyment and personal benefit”.

Between April 2019 and April 2021 the NHS 111 service identified 1,263 nuisance calls linked to an individual using "false personal details, false telephone numbers and false ailments," police said.

Many of calls led to clinicians responding and in some cases ambulances were dispatched.

Cove, of Boundary Road, Worthing, admitted one count of making malicious communications.

He will be sentenced at Worthing Magistrates Court on 13 September.

This Pennsylvania man has an odd penchant for barricading himself in basements.
Police: Blair County man in underwear hides in basement, claims to be a bomb

An East Freedom man is in jail after police say he broke into a home wearing only his underwear and hid in the basement, claiming he couldn’t move because he was a bomb.

It’s the second arrest for Roy Smith, 33 in the past 10 days. Smith had his bail modified and was released from the Blair County Prison after police said he barricaded himself in the basement of a storage facility. ...

A passerby told police he was driving by the home when he was flagged down by a man in black underwear on the porch. The driver stopped and the man, who turned out to be Smith, was irate and trying to tell him something. The passerby told cops he tried to reason with Smith and when the homeowner woke up and came to the door, Smith used a chair that was on the porch to break a window.

When Smith climbed through the window, the homeowner walked outside and Smith then headed for the basement. ...

He was in the basement when police arrived ... Smith had locked the doors to the home so police had to kick in the basement door. Smith was face-down on the cement floor and bleeding from spots all over his body ...

Smith told Greenfield Township police Chief Ronald Sharkey Sr., that he couldn’t move because he was a bomb and if he moved, he would die, police noted in the charges. After talking to police for about a half-hour, Smith emerged, wet and bleeding.

Smith was taken to UPMC Altoona for treatment and arraigned Tuesday morning on a felony count of criminal mischief and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief. ...

It's some story! Here's an update.

Brazil's lower house of Congress has voted in favour of expelling a lawmaker who has been accused of ordering the murder of her husband.

Evangelical gospel singer and pastor turned politician Flordelis de Souza has always maintained she is innocent. The 60-year-old's husband, Anderson do Carmo, was shot 30 times at their home in Rio de Janeiro in June 2019. Prosecutors allege he was killed by Ms Souza's son on her orders with a gun purchased by one of her adopted sons. The couple were famous for raising 55 children, most of whom they had adopted.

In an overwhelming vote, 437 members of the lower house of Congress voted in favour of stripping Flordelis de Souza of her seat for "conduct incompatible with parliamentary decorum". Only seven lawmakers voted against the motion and 12 abstained.

The vote came almost a year after charges were brought against Ms Souza. She has been wearing an electronic ankle bracelet since she was charged.
