A Michigan man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a grocery store clerk with a 4-pound frozen fish during a dispute, prosecutors said.

The incident occurred Sunday around 7:13 p.m. local time at a grocery store in Warren, in the Detroit metro area, Macomb County prosecutors said.

After the fish counter clerk informed the man that the counter had closed at 7 p.m. due to the Ramadan holiday, the suspect allegedly "became angry and argued with the clerk," the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office said in a press release on Wednesday.

"The suspect then allegedly assaulted the clerk on the head with a 4-pound frozen hilsa fish," a type of herring, the prosecutor's office said.

Man arrested after platypus taken from Moreton​

Police have apprehended a man they allege took a platypus from the wild earlier this week, while the hunt for the animal is ongoing.

A hunt for a man and a woman, as well as the platypus, was sparked after the pair was allegedly caught on CCTV showing the creature to people on a train.
Police said the pair boarded a train at Morayfield Station in Queensland with the animal wrapped in a towel, patting it and showing it to fellow commuters.
They then allegedly took it to King Street shopping centre at Caboolture where they allegedly showed it to more members of the public.
It’s alleged the animal was taken from the wild in Queensland’s Moreton district at about 11am on Tuesday.

Over the next six months he got tax bills for 11,000 Chinese companies after they fraudulently used his Cardiff address to register for VAT.
"It's been horrendous," said Mr Davies, who got letters from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) demanding tax amounting to £500,000.

HMRC admitted the situation did not raise alarm bells at the tax office.

"You'd think there'd be a systems with the technology today that would have picked it up immediately," Mr Davies said. He told the police and HMRC but the brown letters just kept coming.

When letters from debt collection agencies started to arrive, he got even more worried that bailiffs may come "charging the door down" and feared that the amount of money involved meant his property could be taken. ...

The business centre where I work has a lot of tax demands sent to companies that aren't there and have never been there.
It seems quite common for this to happen.
 
Return of the Lincoln Chainsaw Massacre.

A man has appeared in court charged with attacking another man with a chainsaw in Lincoln.

Andrew Roberts, 29, appeared at Lincoln Crown Court in connection with the attack, which is said to have taken place in Monks Road on 13 March. During the hearing Mr Roberts, of Lytton Road, pleaded not guilty to wounding with intent and possession of a blade in a public place. A provisional trial date has been set for 28 August.

Lincolnshire Police said the victim suffered serious injuries during the alleged attack.

Went to watch someone get sent down at Chester Crown Court some years ago and found myself sat behind the defendant and in direct line of sight of Judge Roger Dutton.

I knew Judge Dutton only by reputation, as a fearsome upholder of Court dignity.
For example, if he spotted police officers sitting around at the back of the court after giving evidence instead of going out catching crooks, he'd make them stand up and explain themselves.

So when he gave the defendant a 10-minute bollocking I had to work very hard indeed to control my glee. :evillaugh:

Rapper Shoots Family and Releases a Music Video on the Same Day

Every once in a while, a story may have you thinking, what the hell is wrong with people? This is one of those.

On March 28, Virginia rapper EGYPXN, born Tiye Adam Washington II, broke into his own mother’s home. He not only shot his mother, Tyesha Hall, but he also shot his 21-year-old sister and his 12-year-old brother.

As if those crimes weren’t bad enough, the Virginia artist also dropped a music video for his song, “Be Free” shortly after committing those horrendous acts. Thankfully, none of the family members he shot were killed, but they are all still recovering from the life-threatening injuries.

This particular crime has similarities to that of Texas rapper Tay-K, who was on the run from the police while he was shooting the music video for “The Race.” But, unlike Tay-K, the music video for EGYPXN was pre-scheduled to release on YouTube days before he actually committed those crimes against his family.

According to ABC 8 News, local police shortly started a citywide search for the 26-year-old rapper as his injured family members were transported to a hospital.

The next day, on March 29, he posted multiple times on Instagram, but the one post that stood out read, “This world is of full of nothing but suffering and pain. The Burden I’ve carried on my heart has finally reached its peak. I will not be held captive or a prisoner.

He continued, “I rather return to source. REMEMBER, please be careful and considerate of how you treat ppl.. Ya never know what someone is going through or when their breaking point is.”

In the caption for the same post, he wrote, “My last request from humanity is that you seriously evaluate the care you have for each other. If this species is to ever evolve you must stop eating animals, stop warring with each other and take care of mother earth. Overthrow this sadistic government and rebuild. On a fresh foundation. It’s time for me to rest now.. #farwell.”

After being on the run for two days, EGYPXN was fatally shot in North Carolina on March 30 after confronting the police in a standoff, according to ABC 8 news.

Although the alleged suspect is dead, police are still investigating the incident.

Thieves stole $100,000 in dimes off a truck in a Walmart parking lot

A truck driver picked up a load from the Philadelphia Mint yesterday that were meant for delivery to Florida. Needing a rest before the trip, the driver parked his truck in Walmart lot and went home for some sleep. Unfortunately when he returned this morning, the trailer door was open and massive amounts of dimes were strewn throughout the parking lot. Apparently, the trailer had been loaded with $750,000 in dimes and the thieves managed to abscond with around one million of them, totaling approximately $100,000. I hope if someone asks the crooks if they can spare one, they answer in the affirmative.

"They were trying to cross-load the dimes into other things. There are dimes all over the parking lot," said Capt. Jack Ryan of Northeast Detectives.
It's not known if the thief or thieves knew what was inside. Northeast Detectives say it's not unusual for thieves to break into trailers just to see what they can find.
There are cameras in the parking lot and investigators are working on a suspect description.
Sources tell Action News that SWAT officers were called to the scene to help block entrances.

According to my calculation $200,000 in dimes weighs 5 tons. Divide by 10, each man carries half a ton & ends up with 20 grand. They’d need either a big truck or several smaller ones to transport it & that amount of small change would be a pain to spend. Banks will be on the lookout for people changing large amounts. There’s probably ways round it though..

Headless Body in Topless Bar

A 25-year-old man shot the owner of a Queens bar to death, abducted two women and raped one of them, and was arrested several hours later in Manhattan yesterday while asleep at the wheel of a stolen gypsy cab, the police said.

The suspect - Charles Dingle of 155 Woodruff Avenue, near Prospect Park in Brooklyn - was on parole after serving time on a robbery charge.

He was taken into custody at 168th Street and Broadway after the women fled into a subway station and called the police.

Found in a box in the cab was the head of the slaying victim, Herbie Cummings, owner of Herbie's Bar at 182-41 Jamaica Avenue in Jamaica.

According to the police, Mr. Dingle walked into the bar at about 8 P.M. Wednesday and began drinking. He got into an argument with Mr. Cummings and, when ordered to leave, shot the proprietor in the head.

Mr. Dingle tied up three women who were patrons at the bar, the police said, and at about 11 P.M., a fourth woman was forced by the suspect, after he learned from a card in her purse that she was an undertaker, to cut off Mr. Cummings's head and place it in a box.

At some point during the night, the police said, Mr. Dingle began taking cocaine, raped one of the women and released two of his captives. At about 6 A.M., according to the police, Mr. Dingle tried unsuccessfully to start his car, and called a cab. When the cab arrived, he locked the driver in a bathroom at the bar and was apprehended an hour later.

Allotment Assaulted.

Volunteers have started replanting at a community allotment after it was targeted by someone spreading salt on the soil.

Essex Police is investigating after Carly Burd's plot in Harlow was damaged last week. The mother-of-three grows vegetables for people struggling with the cost of living. Eight workers from Harlow Garden Centre helped replant about 300 onions, and some potatoes, at the site on Monday.

"It feels amazing and it's a big weight off my shoulder," Ms Burd told the BBC. "The motto is never stop, just keep going. It doesn't matter how many times you get hit in the face - it's a learning curve- stand up, brush yourself off and crack on." ...

Ms Burd said one local child helped with the replanting on Monday and more would be invited to help at the weekend.

Harlow Garden Centre operations manager, Keiron Robinson, said his team had donated more than 120 bags of compost, bags of onions, potato and carrot seeds.

He said: "The work and time she [Ms Burd] puts in to support those less fortunate than others is remarkable."

Thirty-five-year-old Bryan Kennedy, with an address at Mount Tallant Avenue, Harold's Cross, Dublin 6W, was sentenced on Monday at the Central Criminal Court by Ms Justice Caroline Biggs to five years' imprisonment with the final six months suspended for six months.

Thoughtless thieves snatch life-saving squirrel signs as souvenirs​


SIGNS created by big-hearted Wester Ross children to help protect at-risk squirrels and otters from road danger have been stolen – apparently as souvenirs.

And now a plea has gone out to the thoughtless thieves whose actions are directly endangering Highland wildlife.

Local tradesmen and volunteers helped put these up for free to keep costs as low as possible – but it still cost a significant amount.

The group tonight posted: "Sadly four of our signs have been stolen as souvenirs. Not only can we not afford to replace them but we also don't want to have the kids go through fundraising and doing what we think is the right thing to protect our wildlife only for them to see their hard work being stolen by people who could actually buy souvenirs from local businesses."

A Russian woman living in New York city has been found guilty of attempting to murder her doppelgänger in a bizarre identity-theft plot.

Viktoria Nasyrova tried to kill her beautician Olga Tsvyk in 2016 by giving her a piece of cheesecake poisoned with a strong sedative.
However Ms Tsvyk survived, and when she returned from hospital, found her identity documents had been stolen. Nasyrova will be sentenced next month, and is facing up to 25 years in prison.

At the time, the pair looked quite similar, with dark hair and the same skin complexion, and they were both Russian speakers.

"The jury saw through the deception and schemes of the defendant," Melinda Katz, the Queens District Attorney said in a statement. "Fortunately, her victim survived and the poison led right back to the culprit," Ms Katz added.

The jury heard that in August 2016, Nasyrova, now 47, went to her beautician's house in Queens with a box of cheesecake - eating two pieces herself, and offering the third, poisoned slice to Ms Tsvyk, who was 35 at the time. She started to vomit and went to lie down.

"Before passing out, the woman's last memory was of seeing the defendant walking around her room," Ms Katz's statement said.

Ms Tsvyk's friend found her unconscious the next day, her clothes changed to lacey lingerie and pills scattered around the floor as if she had tried to take her own life. ...

A Russian woman has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for attempting to kill her lookalike in a bizarre identity-theft plot in New York City.

Viktoria Nasyrova gave her beautician, Olga Tsvyk, a slice of poisoned cheesecake on 28 August 2016 before stealing her passport and work permit.As she learned her fate, Nasyrova, 47, directed an expletive at the judge at the court in the borough of Queens.

A prosecutor called her a "ruthless and calculating con artist".

Nasyrova "is going to prison for a long time for trying to murder her way to personal profit and gain", Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said on Wednesday.

The jury heard that on the day of the attempted murder, Nasyrova went to Ms Tsvyk's house in Queens with a box of cheesecake - eating two pieces herself, and offering the third, poisoned slice to the then-35-year-old victim. The eyelash stylist started to vomit and went to lie down. She suffered hallucinations and came close to having a heart attack.

There were petrol-soaked tyres conveniently to hand. My suspicion is that the police were in collusion.

A group of 13 suspected gang members has been beaten and burned to death by a mob in Haiti's capital after being seized while police were searching their vehicle.

The suspects were reportedly beaten with gasoline-soaked tyres before being set alight in Port-au-Prince on Monday.
Police say they confiscated weapons from them just before the incident.
They have not explained how members of the public got hold of the suspects.

An Uber Eats driver was murdered and dismembered in a “demonic” slaying while making a delivery, authorities have said.

Oscar Solis Jnr, 30, has been charged with killing the driver on Wednesday at a home in Holiday, Florida, Pasco County sheriff Chris Nocco said at a press conference. The driver’s remains were found at the home in rubbish bags and a cooler, which also had a receipt with Solis’s name on it, police documents say.

“This was a horrific crime of passion,” Mr Nocco said. “This was demonic. What he did was demonic.”

Solis faces charges of murder while engaged in a robbery, failure to register as a convicted felon and for a parole violation, jail records show.

He was released from an Indiana prison in January after serving four years for an assault and burglary conviction, Mr Nocco said

She said the man used manipulation, suggestion and elements of hypnosis. She added that the healer also forced Stejskalová to completely cut off and disinherit her children.
The presiding judge, Daniella Sarah Sotolářová, read out the reports of the two women's earlier police statements. The dentist's statement revealed that she met the healer during her university studies through Stejskal, whom she used to see for training.
He first "treated" the dentist by placing his hands on her chest or lumbar spine. She had hundreds of sessions in this way, for each of which she paid 500 crowns in cash. According to her, he treated hundreds more people in this way, and many more before that. "We all perceived him to be helping people, to have some kind of ability," she explained.
They began living together early last year after two other women who had been caring for him left his household against his will. The man was the dentist's first partner. According to her initial statement, he worked in a vegetable warehouse, had health problems with his eyes and had been talking about not wanting to be in the world since the spring.

He forced her to kill him
"I didn't take him seriously at first. But then he said if I really loved him, I wouldn't let him down and I would help him," she said.
It was only in a later interrogation that she admitted that the man humiliated her in front of the rest of the group, forced her to undress in front of other community members or sleep in bed with them, beat her, forced her to sell her grandmother's house or threatened to kill people she cared about.
'He also told me that I would make it impossible for my deceased mother to go through heavenly purgatory. I was not the only one this was happening to, there was no escape," she said. The healer convinced her, among other things, that she was a witch in her past lives and that she was to blame for her mother's death because she had evil energy within her that she used to harm everyone in the vicinity, including patients.

'He controlled my whole life'
'He controlled my whole life - what I was going to eat, what I was going to do. (...) He convinced all of us that he could see inside our heads and read our every thought, so he could read our whole life and know everything about a person," she added. She also mentioned an incident in which the healer forced a member of the community to cut off parts of his toes for alleged treason.

According to the prosecutor, the man had voluntarily swallowed a medicine procured by the dentist before his demise, which had calming and hypnotic effects. The dentist then cut his groin and wrist with a scalpel and injected him with a general anaesthetic. It was from acute poisoning with this substance that the man died.
