BERLIN (AP) — Onlookers apparently shouted "Jump!" before a teenage migrant leapt from an apartment block in an eastern German town, suffering fatal injuries, the mayor said Saturday.
Officers were called to the building in Schmoelln on Friday afternoon by the caregiver for a group of young migrants, who reported that a 17-year-old Somali boy was acting violently, police said. When they arrived, he was sitting on a fifth-floor window ledge.
Police and fire officers tried to persuade the teenager not to jump, but he leapt and died shortly afterward of his injuries.
"There is information that some ... onlookers spent a long time watching this incident and there were apparently shouts like 'go on, jump!,'" Mayor Sven Schrade said.

Briton found dead in Malaga airport, tied up and naked from the waist down. Nobody seems to know why he was there, never mind how he got into that position.
This is just spam. The slices of ham suggest Cameron may be involved.
Police are now reportedly trying to determine whether the food on his body has any connection to the death, or it's completely unrelated and was done as a "sick joke".
Art.We need a new word for the crime
Speckrophilia. We need a new word for the crime of finding an unattended corpse and deciding to decorate it with slices of ham
Speckrophilia.
I do read it as being the same location....an accursed WC??....is said to have expired in the bathroom, as an earlier tenant did there about three years ago.
an accursed WC?
I've look at this word from all sorts of perspectives, and I still can't make sense of it...
So @davidplankton am I being dense, or are you being super-obtuse?

A giant Finnish vagrant was arrested on Friday on suspicion of Mr Allford's manslaughter.
Allford's acquaintances are reported to have told police he made several enemies by refusing to share meals with other vagrants - but expected their food when it came their way.
Investigators are now understood to be working on the theory that the ham and tuna may have been a "crude message left by those he had upset".
A post-mortem showed tragic Mr Allford, who had done prison time in Spain for fraud, had probably choked to death on his own vomit after a heavy drinking session.
A source close to the case said: “The judicial investigation is ongoing and several theories are still on the table, including the suggestion the food and ties were put on him while he was sleeping off a hangover as part of a sick joke.
“But acquaintances of the pair have told investigators the dead man had had fallouts with other vagrants because he expected to share their food but wouldn’t reciprocate when he had something to eat.”
Another insider added: “The authorities believe there was a message behind the food that was left on him which was: ‘Stick the ham up your a##e and the tuna in your gonads.’
I think I might be approaching that condition. But I don't have a bike, and my difficulties with walking mean I probably can't reach any rivers, ponds etc. Might get run over on the road, however...A retired postman is feared to have been killed after setting off on his bike to complete his old delivery round while sleepwalking in the middle of the night, an inquest has heard.
John Sullivan’s body was pulled from the River Usk less than a mile away from his home in Abergavenny, south Wales, after he was reported missing by his wife, Rose.
She told an inquest on Friday that the 66-year-old, who had worked as a postman for 20 years before retiring in 2014, had suffered from bouts of sleepwalking and had been found “outside the house on occasions not knowing how he had got there”. ...

Tragic:
“He went out on his own to photograph the geysers on Saturday morning and obviously got too close.
“There’s a hard crust on the surface but liquid mud underneath, and it’s really hot.

Three people were arrested after a diabetic woman died following a "slapping workshop" at a country hotel.
Danielle Carr-Gomm, 71, of Lewes, East Sussex, died at Cleeve House in Seend, Wiltshire, on 20 October, it has emerged.
She was taking part in a workshop involving paida lajin therapy.
Two men, aged 51 and 53, and a woman, 64, were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and later released on bail, police said.
An inquest was opened and adjourned at Salisbury Coroner's Court on Friday.
A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to an address in Seend in the early hours of 20 October following the sudden death of a woman.
"A post mortem has been carried out but the results were inconclusive. We await further toxicology tests."
A spokesman for Cleeve House said: "This was a very sad and shocking event.
"We are very sorry for the lady and her family."
Paida lajin involves patients being slapped or vigorously slapping themselves repeatedly as part of a "self-healing" process.
Yellowstone National Park: Man dies after falling into hot spring
Officials with Yellowstone National Park say a man died after falling into a hot spring, having wandered away from a path.
Colin Nathaniel Scott, 23, fell into the spring in the Norris Geyser Basin area of the park in north-west Wyoming.
Authorities are now trying to retrieve Mr Scott's body from the spring but have so far been unable to reach it ...
Man dissolves in acidic water after he falls into a Yellowstone hot spring
A 23-year-old Oregon man essentially dissolved inside a hot spring at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming after he accidentally fell into it.
The bizarre incident happened back in June, when Colin Nathaniel Scott went to the park with his sister to find a place to "hot pot." ...
Scott had reached down to check the temperature of a spring when he slipped and fell into it. Rescuers later found Scott's body inside the pool, but couldn't retrieve it because of a lighting storm in the area. When they came back the next day, no remains were found beneath the spring's churning, acidic waters.
"In a very short order, there was a significant amount of dissolving," Veress said.
The parks' geyers and springs are acidic because they are fed by thermal water deep underground that picks up sulfuric acid as it rises to the surface. The sulfuric acid is produced by microorganisms that break down hydrogen sulfide in rocks and soil.
Scott's sister was recording on her cell phone when he fell in, but the park service won't release the video. ... "
