Strange Deaths

I think we've had similar stories in this thread before... basterds:

BERLIN (AP) — Onlookers apparently shouted "Jump!" before a teenage migrant leapt from an apartment block in an eastern German town, suffering fatal injuries, the mayor said Saturday.

Officers were called to the building in Schmoelln on Friday afternoon by the caregiver for a group of young migrants, who reported that a 17-year-old Somali boy was acting violently, police said. When they arrived, he was sitting on a fifth-floor window ledge.

Police and fire officers tried to persuade the teenager not to jump, but he leapt and died shortly afterward of his injuries.

"There is information that some ... onlookers spent a long time watching this incident and there were apparently shouts like 'go on, jump!,'" Mayor Sven Schrade said.

Briton found dead in Malaga airport, tied up and naked from the waist down. Nobody seems to know why he was there, never mind how he got into that position.

Gets even more bizarre. The slices of ham suggest Cameron may be involved.

The British man found dead in mysterious circumstances at an airport in Spain bizarrely had a slice of ham on each buttock and his genitals in an open tuna can, it has been reported.

Steven Allford, 51, was discovered with his hands and feet bound by plastic ties and his trousers pulled down on a bench near to the terminal at Malaga Airport.

Police are now reportedly trying to determine whether the food on his body has any connection to the death, or it's completely unrelated and was done as a "sick joke".

Murder detectives are waiting on the results of a post-mortem but suspect he may have been asphyxiated, possible due to choking or throttling.

Police are seeking to establish what he was doing at the airport and whether he had missed a flight home or was sleeping rough. ...

We need a new word for the crime of finding an unattended corpse and deciding to decorate it with slices of ham and to shove its genitalia in a tin of fish . . .

Can't wait for the selfies they took alongside their handiwork!

We need a new word for the crime
Art.

Sorry, no humour should arise from this.

May I also point-out that the buttocks/upper thighs are colloquially referred to as hams...and an exposed penis (in a flasher/deviant context) is a barracuda or tuna (in law enforcement slang....and, taking that to tuna mayo is a fish too far....so I'd better can it).

No passing punters would decorate a corpse then take a selfie. This sounds like a vengeful execution with calling cards. How very 80s paperback....

Ok, so it's posh spam.

Thank goodness for that, since Google search was suggesting it might be a mis-spelt version of 'spectrophilia' , which is either a semi-sexual attraction to ghosts....or (wait for it) sexual arousal from reflected objects in mirrors.

Which on reflection is one of the strangest deviations I've ever seen.

You might know this, what was the (fiction) book where a murder victim is left with a pickled gherkin stuck up his bum? I have a dim recollection the story involved feuding chefs?

It might have been Confessions of a Flesh Eater, I've a vague notion it was the same author as Memoirs of a Gnostic Dwarf.

The mirror has this update today:

Brit found dead in Malaga with his genitals in can of tuna was 'killed by another tramp in row over food'

A giant Finnish vagrant was arrested on Friday on suspicion of Mr Allford's manslaughter.

Allford's acquaintances are reported to have told police he made several enemies by refusing to share meals with other vagrants - but expected their food when it came their way.

Investigators are now understood to be working on the theory that the ham and tuna may have been a "crude message left by those he had upset".

A post-mortem showed tragic Mr Allford, who had done prison time in Spain for fraud, had probably choked to death on his own vomit after a heavy drinking session.

A source close to the case said: “The judicial investigation is ongoing and several theories are still on the table, including the suggestion the food and ties were put on him while he was sleeping off a hangover as part of a sick joke.

“But acquaintances of the pair have told investigators the dead man had had fallouts with other vagrants because he expected to share their food but wouldn’t reciprocate when he had something to eat.”

Another insider added: “The authorities believe there was a message behind the food that was left on him which was: ‘Stick the ham up your a##e and the tuna in your gonads.’

OK, that makes a bit more sense when they explain it. But people can have a weird dedication to vindictiveness, can't they?

I think I might be approaching that condition. But I don't have a bike, and my difficulties with walking mean I probably can't reach any rivers, ponds etc. Might get run over on the road, however...

Slap happy.

Three people were arrested after a diabetic woman died following a "slapping workshop" at a country hotel.

Danielle Carr-Gomm, 71, of Lewes, East Sussex, died at Cleeve House in Seend, Wiltshire, on 20 October, it has emerged.

She was taking part in a workshop involving paida lajin therapy.

Two men, aged 51 and 53, and a woman, 64, were arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and later released on bail, police said.

An inquest was opened and adjourned at Salisbury Coroner's Court on Friday.

A Wiltshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to an address in Seend in the early hours of 20 October following the sudden death of a woman.

"A post mortem has been carried out but the results were inconclusive. We await further toxicology tests."

A spokesman for Cleeve House said: "This was a very sad and shocking event.

"We are very sorry for the lady and her family."

Paida lajin involves patients being slapped or vigorously slapping themselves repeatedly as part of a "self-healing" process.

More on Paida Lajin Therapy here.

It does not seem to be an ancient therapy but the invention of a man called Xiao Hongchi. The death of a seven-year-old boy in Australia has also been associated with the therapy.

"She also described vomiting "the most horrible syrupy black stuff"

That would be the snake-oil, presumably! :(

Yellowstone National Park: Man dies after falling into hot spring

Officials with Yellowstone National Park say a man died after falling into a hot spring, having wandered away from a path.
Colin Nathaniel Scott, 23, fell into the spring in the Norris Geyser Basin area of the park in north-west Wyoming.
Authorities are now trying to retrieve Mr Scott's body from the spring but have so far been unable to reach it ...

... And here's the follow-up story ...

Man dissolves in acidic water after he falls into a Yellowstone hot spring
A 23-year-old Oregon man essentially dissolved inside a hot spring at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming after he accidentally fell into it.
The bizarre incident happened back in June, when Colin Nathaniel Scott went to the park with his sister to find a place to "hot pot." ...

Scott had reached down to check the temperature of a spring when he slipped and fell into it. Rescuers later found Scott's body inside the pool, but couldn't retrieve it because of a lighting storm in the area. When they came back the next day, no remains were found beneath the spring's churning, acidic waters.

"In a very short order, there was a significant amount of dissolving," Veress said.

The parks' geyers and springs are acidic because they are fed by thermal water deep underground that picks up sulfuric acid as it rises to the surface. The sulfuric acid is produced by microorganisms that break down hydrogen sulfide in rocks and soil.

Scott's sister was recording on her cell phone when he fell in, but the park service won't release the video. ... "

The number of people who die each year taking a selfie is on the rise but a team of US researchers now hope they can tackle the problem.

They are developing an app which will warn people when they are at risk.

Their research found 15 selfie-takers died in 2014, 39 in 2015 and 73 died in the first eight months of 2016.

They revealed where most incidents happen and how causes of death can change depending on where in the world you live.

The study has been led by PhD student Hemank Lamba and a team of friends at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Sounds like local lynching and a rope hanging at the town square will happen soon.
